Polkadoodles Digi Queen DT Wk 9 - Winston

Good morning everyone!

I just love the Winston CD from Polkadoodles, and I couldn't resist this fabby digi stamp of Winston chillin' out in his boat; I think he's so cool.  To colour this gorgeous image in I thought I would take inspiration from Nikky and use my Pan Pastels - it was a bit of a learning curve but I'm happy with the results.

You can get the digi here

Here's What I Did
I thought I would create a CAS card so the main focus would be on Winston. I matted and layered plain Cardstock onto my base and added faux stitching around the edges. The digi stamp was printed directly onto some artist quality paper designed for pastels, but these could easily be any cardstock. I used a fine paint brush to apply my Pan Pastels and when everything was completed I used a few pencils to add a little extra shade and dimension.  I punched out the corners of my completed topper and matted it onto some co-coordinating card. To finish off I wrapped some jute around the edge of the card and added some hand drawn fish and a few buttons.

Here's What I Used
Digi Stamps: Winston
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Cream Card Base, Artist Pastel CS, Basal CS
Pan Pastels: Turquoise, Bright Yellow Green, Phthalo Green, Burnt Sienna Shade, Permanent Red, Permanent Red Tint, Violet Tint, Titanium White, Diarylide Yellow, Black
Other: Buttons, Jute, Corner Punch, Bronze & Black Sharpie Pen, White Pen, Pencils

Polkadoodles - Digi Queens Week 7

Hello and good morning Polkadoodlers -

Wow, I can't believe another fortnight as flown by!

Anyhoo, it's my delight to share my Digi Queen themed card with you this week - and the theme is Halloween.  It's one of those themes that you either love or hate --- it's a bit like marmite. :)

For my card I used Polkadoodles Witchie Witchie 2013 Digi Download Bundle for the tree/owl and bats (there's loads of fab Halloween stuff in the bundle), and the gorgeous girl is a digi stamp called Witchie Skeleton 2013.  The links can be found below.

Here's What I Did
To start with I made an A5 black card base. I matted orange and black card onto the base along with the orange swirly coloured paper which was made using Pan Pastels. The tree/owl, girl, bats and pumpkin are all Polkadoodles images which I coloured my Copic pens.  All the coloured elements were fussy cut out and glued onto the card base along with my die cut fence. To finish off I punched out a few dots from black glitter card.

To colour her hair I selected 3 purple shades - dark, mid and light and 2 shades of green - light and mid. Purple - I started at the crown with the deepest shade and flicked a little way out, then using my mid shade and starting where the deep shade finished I flicked further towards the area where I thought the light would hit, ensuring I left a white area.  Green - Then from the edge of her hair I started with my mid shade and flicked towards the purple, again not too far. Using my lightest shade of green I flicked towards the purple, again leaving a small area of white.

Using my lightest purple shade I coloured in the white area that was left, and blended up towards the mid purple shade and down to the light green until they blended together. This effect is simple to do but it might take a few goes to get it right - it also looks fab on fairy wings too.

Here's What I Used
Digi Stamps: 'Witchie Witchie' 2013 Download Bundle and 'Witchie Skeleton' 2013
Paper/Cardstock (CS): , Papermainia Coloured CS, Craftwork Cards Super Smooth Colouring CS, Black CS, Black Glitter CS
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E02 / Hair - YG03, YG11, V000, V01, V04 / Bows - Y00, Y38, YR07, YR68, / Tree - C2, C3, C5, C7, 100 / Costume - C2, C3, C5, C7, 100 Y02, Y38 / Pumpkin - Y00, YR04, YR07, YR68, W2, W3, YG03, YG06, YG663, YG67, 100 / Bats - C3, C5, V01 / Mask - V000, V01, V04
Pan Pastels: Permanent Red, Phthalo Green Orange, Dairylide Yellow

Sweet Stampin' Fairies and Fantasy

Hellooooo, well it's that time again ---- it's Sweet Stampin' time.

I hope you're all enjoy the beautiful spring weather here in the UK and hopefully in your corner of the world. It's so nice to see some sunshine instead of fog and clouds.  Anyhoo, back to Sweet Stampin' - our theme this week is Fairies and Fantasy.  So here's a little bit of fairy delight - isn't she cute.  I love these fairies from Sugar Nellie they're so sweet - they're available in both digi and in rubber .

Here's What I did
I embossed the front of my card base using a mask and used a little pan pastel over the embossed surface.  I find masks really versatile because you ink through them, dry emboss with them or use mixed media to emboss them further. I die cut 2 pastel coloured circle mats and a white circle with the printed little fairy on it. I randomly added pan pastel around the circle to give an ethereal feel with dots using Copic pens (mmm, not sure if I've added one too many of them!). The fairy was coloured with copics and fussy cut out and then gluede onto the circle. To finish off I added glitter and die cut flowers.

Here's everything I used:
Digi Stamp:  'Live Laugh Love' Sugar Nellie stamp available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Create & Craft Pastel Coloured CS, Craftwork Card Shaped CS
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, R30 / Hair: YR0000, YR000, YR00, E13, E99 / Dress, Shoes & Flowers - R000, R20, R30, R32, R35 / Wings - G000, G00, G02
Dies: Tonic Circle & Scallop Circle Layering Dies, Tattered Lace 'Embellishments', Britannia 'Multi Rose'
Other: Glitter, Pan Pastels, Stamp Away Mask

So why not drop by the Sweet Stampin' Challenge Blog and check out what my fab Design Team girlies have made to inspire you. Why not join in with us, but don't forget your project MUST include a Sugar Nellie stamp or digi stamp - both are available from Funkykits.  If you're not sure if your stamp IS a Sugar Nellie stamp either sent me a message with it's name/picture or visit the Sugar Bowl website and send an email to Sugar mama using the link there.

BIG NEWS FROM THE SUGAR MINES
Exciting news - things are changing in the Sugar Bowl from February onwards. Each month as well as the usual prize on offer for the selected winner, we will also highlight 3 of our favourite card/projects from the entries. The biggest news is that we will also choose one entry to be our Guest Designer for the following month. So come on what are you wanting for.....get crafting!!!

Your colour Palette

This was a relatively quick card.  The topper was made by stamping 3 times, firstly onto my base cream CS, then twice onto white CS.  I coloured the image on my cream base card, and then coloured the parts on the white CS that I wanted to layer up. I'd added colour around the edge of the frame by firstly adding pencil around the very edge, and then using some Pan Pastel to pull the colour in towards the centre. The parts of the image that I'd coloured and cut out were added to the base card.  I added glitter to finish it off.  I drew a squiggly line and leaves around the edge of the background card and added a little glitter to compliment the topper. To finish off I added some leaves and flowers.

Here's everything I used:
Stamp: Leanne Ellis 'Wild Rose' - Sugar Nellie stamp available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Hobbycraft 'Monochrome' Paper Pad, Papermill Shimmer Cream CS, Light & Deep Pink and Dark Grey Bazzill CS, Silver Mirra CS
Pencils: Derwent (D) & Prisma (P), Lyra Polycolour (L) - Face - Colour of CS, (P) Light Peach, Peach, Blush / Rose & Frame Edge - (P) Blush Pink, Poppy Red, Crimson / Hair - (P) Sand, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Ochre, Sienna Brown, (D) Ochre / Dress, Leaves & Hat - (D) Dove Grey, Cloud Blue, Steel Grey, Persian Grey, (L) Black
Dies: Britannia Multi Rose - Small, Die-namic 'Blueprints 3', Tattered Lace 'Embellishments'
Other: Pan Pastels - Permanent Red Tint, Black Fineliner Pen, Glitter

So don't forget to drop by at The Sugar Bowl and have a look at what the rest of my fabulous DT sweeties have created to inspire you; and why not join in with this month's challenge while you're there. Sweet Stampin Challenge - In Stitches

Well I don't know about you but I can't believe how quickly this month has gone. I'm wondering if it's because I'm getting older or it's because I'm constantly busy. I'm not sure of the answer, all I know is that I blinked and missed January :)  Anyway back to crafty business, here's my card tag for this week's Sweet Stampin' Challenge - the theme this week is In Stitches. Your card, tag or whatever project you decide to make MUST include a stamped element.

Here's What I did
After cutting out my tag it was coloured with my pan pastels. I then stamped the sewing images with stazon all over the tag - and yes some of the tape measure is upside......I did it on purpose ;)  The word 'Beautiful' was stamped, heat embossed and covered with gold gilding flakes. Then I die cut a sewing machine, mannequin stand and body section which I tinted blue, stamped and glittered. To finish it off I hand sewed a little lace skirt and wrapped it around the body, this was then added to the tag along with the sewing machine. To embellish it further I added die cut letters, some buttons, tag and a bow.

Here's what I Used:
Stamps: Sew Pretty (Craft Mag Freebie), My Mind's Eye Tangerine 'Hello Stamps', Little Darlings 'Large Words'
Cardstock (CS): Papermill Shimmer CS, Black CS, White CS
Dies: Xcut Alphabet 'Centurion', Sizzix 'Banner 2'
Die Cut: Polkadoodles Cutting files 'Picknix' Collection 1 - Mannequin, Sewing Machine
Pan Pastels: Phthalo Blue Tint, Turquoise, Diarylide Yellow, Permanent Red Tint, Orange, Violet Tint
Other: Tag (created by me), Versamark Ink, Stamp N' Bond, Gold Gilding Flakes, Buttons, Ribbon, Gold thread, Distressing Ink pad 'Tumbled Glass', Heat Gun, Stazon, Lace, Glitter

Totally Gorjuss Challenge - 220 - Furtastic

Hi there, well here I am again with this week's DT card for Totally Gorjuss The theme this week is ANYTHING GOES -  FURTASTIC.  So think furry things, hairy things, pets and so on.

Really easy CAS card this week but fun to make.  I die cut a brown scallop square, a plain square in gingham paper (did I hear you say yee haw!!) and another using the 'friend' word die. Can I say I love, love, love these Die-namic Blueprint dies, they're so useful.  Anyway back to business......I stamped my little doggie onto water colour card and coloured him using my distressing ink pens. This is a really old wooden block stamp that I've had for years - but I love him he's so cute. To add a little dimension I stamped his nose and mouth twice, coloured, then cut out them out and layered them up.  Pencils were used to give a little more depth to his face and body. Everything was added to the card base and to finish off I added a little glossy accent to his nose and dog tag.

Here's what I used.
Stamps: Whipper Snapper 'Good New Puppy', Personal Impressions 'Paw Prints'
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Kraft CS, Papermania Brown CS, Gingham Paper (Magazine freebie)
Distressing Ink Pens: Wild honey, Spiced Marmalade, Pumice Stone, Black Soot, Antique Linen, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, Barn Door, Fired Brick
Other: Prisma Pencils, Lyra Polycolour Pencils, Derwent Coloursoft Pencils, Glossy Accents, Pan Pastel - Turquoise Tint.

Yey, My Sugar Nellie Card

Wowsa, look who's on the Sugar Nellie blog....lol me!!

I know I usually create a monthly Design Team card for The Sugar Bowl challenge blog. However, the Sugar Bowl sweeties were asked if we'd like to create a card especially for the Sugar Nellie blog this month as well.....and of course I said YES. So gulp, here it is.  I hope you like it!

OMG I hope it's up to the high standard that's expected over at Sugar Nellie's; the cards shown there are always stunning.

I made this sweet little shaped card using a Sugar Nellie digital stamp and coloured her in with my Copics, to add a little bit of sparkle I added a touch of glitter to her wings.  I covered the base card in patterned paper and added a little distressing ink around the edges. I then die cut a small border strip, and added the matted image onto circles. To soften the edge of the main image I used some pan pastel. I love making my own handmade flowers as they always give such a personal touch, so I die cut a few different types plus a few leaves.  To finish her off I added a little gem to her hair, some pearls to the flowers and a cute yellow flower button.

Here's what I used:
Digital Stamp:  'A Little Bit Of Gossip' from the Return To Fairy Glen Release available from Funkykits.
Paper/Cardstock: Dovecraft 'Garden Party', Orange, Green & Pink CS, Craftwork Cards - Shaped Card Base
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, R30 / Hair - YR0000, YR000, YR00, E13, E18, E25 / Dress, Flower Centres & Shoes - Y000, Y00, Y15, Y38 / Cardigan & Flowers - R81, R85, 00 / Ladybird - R81, R35 / Leaves - G21, G82, G14, 00

Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Girly No Pink

Well here's my first card of 2014 for Sweet Stampin' Challenge Blog - the challenge this week is 'Girly No Pink' and MUST include a stamped element.  I have included the frame I made to go with it. Both were made for my daughter's 25th birthday as she's a bit of a hippy. She turned 'hippy' after going to see 'Hair' at the theatre a few years ago. I loved making the frame, it was so satisfying and it looks so cute. I think I'll definitely be making more.

I struggle with layouts, so I hope I haven't made this too fussy as the papers are so pretty. Isn't she gorgeous, I coloured her with my copics and she was such a dream to colour in. Her background was stamped with flowers and different coloured pan pastels where used to give a pretty psychedelic look. I mounted this onto a punched border mat and, added my handmade flowers, gems and ribbon. The peace sign was cut using my Cricut.

Totally Gorjuss Challenge - New

Well here's the last challenge for 2014 from Totally Gorjuss The theme this week is ANYTHING GOES - NEW So to give you a little inspiration here's my DT card. I decided my card would represent 'A Brand NEW Day'

This was a relatively simple card. The base card and the sky were made by using 4 Pan Pastels colours.  I created the background hills using some torn paper and some Black 'Soot' Distressing Ink. To finished my scene I stamped foliage on top of the finished background with the 'Soot' DI.  Finally I used a black fineliner pen on top of the stamped images to give more definition.  I did add a sentiment but I removed it because it just didn't look right.

Here's what I used.
Stamps: Inkylicious  - 'Moonlight Foliage', 'Summer Morn', 'Spring Awaking' and Cart-Us 'Birds On A Branch'
Paper/Card: White, Black and Red CS
Pan Pastels: Permanent Red, Permanent Red Tint, Orange, Diarylide Yellow
Other: Torn Paper, Splodge Away Mat, Black 'Soot' Distressing Ink

So why not come along and visit our blog at Totally Gorjuss and check out what my team buddies have made to inspire you. I used a Humphrey's Corner freebie stamp from one of my Craft mag - isn't he adorable.  I've been dying to use him for ages and this theme was perfect.  The kraft card background was given a snowy feel using white pan pastel, white and blue pencils and a touch of glitter.  I added snow drops by drawing irregular circles with a fineliner and filling in with a white gel pen.  Humphrey and friend was stamped and coloured using my copics on white Neenah card to make the colours pop, and cut out them out. Finally I stamped a sentiment and die cut a flag.

Here's what I used.
Stamp: Humphrey's Corner 'Elephant and Reindeer', Polkadoodles 'Snow Sentiment' (both stamps were magazine freebies)
Paper/Card: Neenah, Red CS and Kraft Card
Copics: Y00, Y02, Y06, Y07, Y17, R32, R35, R37, R59, R000, R00,C-1, C-2, C-3, B0000, B000, B02, BO5, E33, E35, E50, E51, E53, 0
Dies: Sizzix 'Banner 2'
Other: Gems, Glitter, White Pan Pastel, White Gel Pen, Black Fineliner, White and Blue Pencil

So why not come along and visit our blog at Totally Gorjuss and check out what my fab team buddies have made to inspire you. 'The Sugar Bowl November Challenge - 109

Her's my DT card for The Sugar Bowl monthly challenge. The theme this month is Using Your 1st Sugar Nellie Stamp.

I thought I would try something a little different this month, so I decided to make a shaker card because I haven't made one of these for years. I hand cut everything myself including the base card which was die cut using a Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Circle Nestie. The patterned halo in the centre and acetate circle was cut out using my circle scissor, and all the flowers were die cut.  The little cutie holding that poor frog was stamped 3 times, coloured with Copics, cut out and layered up. The glitter is a mixture of green and gold to tie in with the colours used..

Here's everything I used:

Rubber Stamp: Sugar Nellie 'Shaken Not KIssed' by Diane Duda
Cardstock: First Edition 'Hideway'
Copics: Face - E0000, E000, E00, E02, R20, R30 / Hair - YR0000, YR00, YR02, E35, E37, E99 / Dress & Shoes - R000, R00, YR00, R11, R02, R22, R37 / Crowns & Tights - Y000, Y02, YO8, Y17 / Tights & Frog - YG00, YG03, YG09, YG17
Die: Small and Large Britannia Rose Multi Flower, Marianne Designs Swirly Rose,Cheery Lyn Designs 'Fanciful Flourish'
Other: Circle Scissors, Martha Stewart 'Leaf' Punch, Pearls, Glitter, Acetate, Foam Tape, Pan Pastels 'Bright Yellow Green' and 'Phthalo Green', Pink Chalk

So don't forget to drop by at The Sugar Bowl and have a look at what the rest of my fabulous DT sweeites have created to inspire you, and why not join in with this month's challenge while you're there. It's open to everyone, and the theme is 'Use Your 1st Sugar Nellie Stamp' so  come on give it a go. You can create anything you like but it MUST as the theme suggests include a SUGAR NELLIE STAMP (either rubber or digi) otherwise it will be removed (sorry!).

Have fun, and I look forward to seeing your creations on my return.

Hugs
