Sweet Stampin' - Anything Goes

Good morning to you all.

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and had great fun with family and friends. My daughter managed to make it home for Christmas Day - thanks to my hubbie driving all the way to London and back to collect her. The only sad thing is that we had to drive her back again on Boxing Day due to work commitments. But we got to spend some quality time with her, which is the most important thing.

Anyway back to business! It's that time again ---- it's Sweet Stampin' day!!  Our theme this week is 'Anything Goes'. So I thought I would share the Christmas card I made for my hubbie. It's fun and cute - I gave the reindeer a shiny nose and goggley eyes - they're a little wonky so he looks a little merry. Lol!

Here's What I did
I used a 7" x 7" white base card on which I matted some patterned paper and card.  I die cut 4 curved shapes from white card using a border die so that they would look like snowy slopes.  All the edges of the cut pieces were coloured with a blue Copic pen, these were then layered up onto a blue background to create a snowy scene. I stamped the reindeer 3 times, coloured him with Copic pens, cut out the necessary sections and then layered them up. I added the reindeer, coloured in Robin and log to the background. The finished picture was matted onto some Kraft and red card stock and added to the card base. To finish off I added die cut stars to the sky, added gogglely eyes, glossy accent to the reindeer's nose and white pen to the scarf and hat.

Here's everything I used:
Stamp: 'Santa's Reindeer'- By HobbyArt
Paper/Cardstock (CS):  Desert Storm Neenah CS, Red, White & Blue Plain CS, Kraft CS,  First Edition 'Nordic Christmas' Paper Pad
Copics: Reindeer & Robin - E33, E35, E37 / Nose, Scarf, Hat, Leg Warmers, Robin's Breast - R14, R27, R59 / Snow - B0000, B000
Dies: Spellbinder 'Curved Border One', Cuttlebug 'Snowflakes'
Other: Sharpie White Pen, Glossy Accent

So why not drop by the Sweet Stampin' Challenge blog and check out what my fab Design Team girlies have made to inspire you. So come on why not join in with the fun and enter your card/project into our 'Anything Goes' challenge we'd love to see your entries. REMEMBER you must include a stamped element on your card!  Have fun and good luck.

Sugar Nellie DT Post - New Furry Friends

- Hello Sugar Fans -

Well hello and good morning to you all. It's Thursday and it's Sugar Nellie time!
Yay!!!!  I get the fab job of  introducing one of the new digital stamps from the 'Furry Friends' collection - this fabby stamp is called Golf Buddy and it's available from Funkykits in digital format. How cool is this for a golfing fan or the golfer in the family. I made them both very dark and furry - but they would look equally as brilliant in a much softer colourway.

Here's What I Did
My card is actually a tear drop shaped card as I wanted to make them appear as though they were on a hillside. To make my card base - I cut a 5" x 7" piece of strong card for the back, and then cut a 5" x 7½" piece of strong acetate for the front.  I scored ½" in from one end of the acetate which I then scored and folded over to make a flap; I added taped to the flap usually strong tape (red tape) this was stuck to the back of the piece of card.

To decorate my card - I added blue card (sky) to my card then glued cut out hills on top of this (distressing ink was added to the edges first), I also tucked a cut out flag/post behind one of the hills. At the edge of the card I glued on a punched out border being careful not too place my tape too close to the inner edge - as this is where the acetate will be tucked into (see above picture). I coloured my 'Golf Buddy' image with Copics and cut all the pieces out, these were glued to the front of my acetate along with a hill shape to compliment the background hills. To finish off I added a few die cut clouds.

When the acetate is untucked from the border edge the card lies flat for postage.
Here's What I Used
Digi Stamp: 'Golf Buddy' available Sugar Nellie at Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Centura Pearl, First Edition 'Spring Drop', Craftwork CS Digital Super Smooth, Acetate
Copic Pens: Dog - E31, E35, E37, E57 / Cap & Ball - Y11, Y15, Y38, R22, R27, R29, R59 / Grass - YG17 / Flag & Golf Bag - Y15, Y35, Y38, R22, R27, R29, R59 / Golf Clubs: C1, C2, C3 / Rabbit - W1, W2, W3, W5, W7, R000
Dies: Joy 'Clouds'
Other: Martha Stewart Border Punch, Distressing Ink

Sugar Nellie - Under The Sea

Hello Sugary Peeps!

It's my turn to share with you one of the many stamps from the Sugar Nellie range over at Funkykits or the Etsy store. So for my DT card for this week I thought I would pick something a little but different for me.  This pretty rubber stamp is called 'Under The Sea', isn't she cute.

Here's What I Did
I used an 5" x 5" card blank and pretty First Edition paper in the background. I have to admit I was out of my comfort zone with the underwater side of things, so I tried to keep it simple. So after colouring the gorgeous mermaid and her turtle friend with Copics, I swept across the background firstly with my palest shade of blue, then I added blue green shades getting a little darker each time. I then added lots of different size dots using the same pens colours as in the main characters. To finish I added a die cut flower and some leaves to the corner, plus a little glitter to her pearls.
Here's What I Used
Rubber Stamp: Sugar Nellie 'Under The Sea' available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Aqua CS Papermania, Neenah Colouring CS, First Edition 'New Blooms', Glitter CS
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R30 / Hair - YR0000, YR000, YR00, E13, E99 / Fishtail & Turtle - BG10, BG13, BG15 / Top - V000, V01, V04 / Turtle Shell - E33, E35, E53 / Pearls - Y35 / Background - B0000, B000, B00, BG10, BG13, V01, V04
Dies: Die-namics MFT 'Blueprint 8'
Other: Glitter, Sequins

To see more Sugar Nellie creations made  by the lovely sugar DT why not drop by the Sugar Nellie blog or join our Facebook page (just search for the Official Sugar Nellie Group)

Sugar Nellie - Bad Hare Day

Good morning everybody, I hope you are all enjoying the spring weather.

It's my turn this week to show you one of the stamps from the Sugar Nellie range over at Funkykits. So here's my DT card using this cutie digital stamp ‘Bad Hare Day’.  The originally plan was to repaint my new wooden heart shaped hanging thingy to showcase my stamp along with bits of paper, stamped images, flowers but I had a nightmare. I'm not really much good glue and tend to get it everywhere but where I want it...well I had the same nightmare with blue paint. I‘ve now come to realise up-cycling wooden objects might need a tad more practice and a lot more play time ---- and possibly better acrylic paints.  My hubbie just shakes his head. LOL
Aw well, I might give it another try for my next project - well maybe!!.
Anyhoo, back to this week's DT card --- after doing a crafty detour I’ve created an 8 x 8 Easter card scene.  I like to use different mediums as you know, so this week I decided to use my Prisma Pencils  as they were gathering dust in their tin box - I did however use my Copics to add a base layer before using my pencils.

Here's What I Did
I attached some gorgeous glittery aqua coloured card onto my white base card and punches out 2 borders and added them to each side.  I used the same aqua coloured card as the background (sky) and base of the scene, From the same paper pad I cut out a few green hills in different directions and added distressing ink on the edges.  These were layered up onto the background (sky) card, and I placed a few of the glittered stickers from the pad around the scene and added my girl image.  I die cut the picket fence, bird table, bird and clouds and attached them to the card.  To finish off my scene I added a little glitter, the sentiment and some punched out flowers and butterflies around the image.

Here's what I used:
Digital Stamp: 'Bad Hare Day' available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): , Blue, White & Cream CS, First Edition 'Spring Drop''
Prisma Pencils & Copics: Skin - E0000, Light Peach, Peach, Burnt Ochre / Cheeks, Lips & Rabbit Ears - R000, Blush Pink, Pink, Magenta / Rabbit - E000, Beige, Gingeroot, Burnt Ochre / Hair - Y000, Lemon Yellow, Canary Yellow, Golden Rod, Spanish Orange /  Dress (Green) - YG11, Spring Green, Apple Green, Grass Green / Dress (Blue), Shoes, Eyes - B000, cloud Blue, True Blue, Light Cerulean Blue, Copenhagen Blue, White
Dies: Die-namics 'Blueprint 8', Marianne Designs ' LR0205', Joy! 'Clouds'
Other: Mini Buterfly Punch, Serif CraftArtist 2, White Gel Pen, Glitter, Mini Butterfly Punch, Flower Punch

Let Us know
I'm keen to know if there's anything you'd like to learn or know how to do eg how to emboss, use shrink plastic, make a tag etc. Or is there anything you'd like to see included on the Sugar Nellie blog. If so let me know - either leave me a comment or email me.

Why not visit my lovely design teamies over at Sugar Nellie and check out everyone's sugary creations. We also have a monthly challenge over at the Sugar Bowl so why not join us - we'd love to see you. The theme for Challenge 114 is Easter/Springtime. But remember to use a Sugar Nellie stamp.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Sugar Bowl Challenge 114 - Easter/Spring Time

Hi there, it seems we're fast approaching Spring time....thankfully. Here at the The Sugar Bowl the theme this month is quite apt - it's Easter/Spring Time.  So get your Sugar Nellie stamps out and have a go.

Why not join in with us and make a card/project for the special someone in your life, but don't forget your project MUST include a Sugar Nellie stamp or digi stamp - both are available from Funkykits. If you're not sure if your stamp IS a Sugar Nellie stamp either sent me a message with it's name/picture or visit the Sugar Bowl website and send an email to Sugar Mama using the link there.

BIG NEWS: Funkykits now has a new Etsy shop where you can buy Sugar Nellie digi stamps - why not check them out.

Here's my little 'spring' card for you:

Here's What I Did
I used a 6 x 6 white card base and matted some patterned paper onto it - it's a pretty lilac colour but it looks a little washed out in my photo :(  I stamped my little gardening girl onto Neenah CS and again onto copier paper.  From the copier paper I cut out the girl with the flowers closest to her, and cut out the butterfly and a small hill shape - all to create a mask.  Using non-permanent tape I covered the girl, flowers and butterfly up and covered the area where I wanted my grassy area. Using distressing ink and my handmade cloud template I created some cloud shapes.  The rest of the image was always coloured with copics and Prisma Pencils. the grass was created using just green pen dots.

The arch window aperture was die cut and embossed and I coloured the daisy centres with a copic pen. To finish off I added some punched out butterflies and sprinkling of glitter.

Here's everything I used:
Stamp:  'Garden Daisy' Sugar Nellie stamp available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): White Neenah, First Edition 'Spring drop', White and Lilac CS
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, R30 / Hair - YR0000, YR000, YR00, E13, E99 / Dress, Shoes - V01, V02, V04, V05, V06  / Flowers and tights - RV000, RV00, RV02  / Watering Can, Butterfly & Flower Centres - Y000, Y15, Y38 / Grass and Leaves - YG00, YG03, YG09, YG17
Dies: MFT Die-namics 'Blueprints 3 & 8'
Other: Butterfly Punch, Inkydoodles Mask 'Daisy Daisy', 'Tumbled Glass' Distressing Ink, Glitter

So don't forget to drop by at The Sugar Bowl and have a look at what the rest of my fabulous DT sweeties have created to inspire you; and why not join in with this month's challenge while you're there. It's open to everyone, and the theme is Easter/Spring Time so come on give it a go.

If you want to be in with a chance of being in our Top 3 or even a Guest Designer then please remember to use a Sugar Nellie stamp.

Have fun, and I look forward to seeing your creations on my return.

Sugar Bowl Challenge - Mother's Day/Special Lady

Hi everyone, it seems like ages since I made a card for the The Sugar Bowl. The theme this month is a Mother's Day/Special Lady.

Here's my card or should I say 'pop-up' card.  This is the first time I've made one of these, and loved it.  I used to make exploding boxes years ago, because they were so dimensional and these are the same sort of thing. I've take a few photos of this so you can see the detail, I have to admit it took me best part of a day and half to make but I did have a few hiccups along the way.

Here's What I Did

UPDATE: I have just included a link to the tutorial I've created on how to make a box  **Sleep warning** it's a bit lengthy sorry, but it does have illustrations. Click here to open, download and/or save it. FYI, if you want to make the box height and/flaps slightly larger or smaller just increase or decease the measurements I've given you. Any questions just email me...have fun!

I decorated the box sides and flaps with patterned papers edged with distressing ink. Each strut inside the box was embellished with die cut flowers, butterflies, a sentiment and my sweet Sugar Nellie fairy which I coloured with Copics and with a splash of glitter to her wings. Some of the embellishment were added to the struts themselves and some were taped to acetate strips. The idea is to give the box dimension and interest. The content is supposed to be hidden from view when it's flat but when the recipient 'squares' up the box the content 'pop's up' to give the surprise (as you see above).

Hope you like it. These boxes are all the rage at the moment and are so easy to make, so why not give them a go and make one for the 'special lady' in your life using your favourite Sugar Nellie stamp.

Here's everything I used:
Stamp:  'Live Laugh Love' Sugar Nellie stamp available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): First Edition 'Spring Drop', Papermill Textured Cream CS, Various Coloured CS, Glitter CS
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, R30 / Hair: YR0000, YR000, YR00, E13, E99 / Dress, Shoes & Flowers - R000, R20, R30, R32, R35 / Wings - G000, G00, G02
Dies: Die-namics Blueprint 8, Spellbinders 'Rose Creations', Butterfly 'Magazine freebie', XCut 'Bloom' and 'Oval' & 'Scallop Oval', Cheery Lyn Designs' Fanciful Flourish' and 'Exotic Butterfly Small', Tattered Lace 'Embellishments'
Other: Glitter, Craftwork Cards 'Candi', Acetate, Foam Pads, Inkylicious 'Mother' Sentiment Stamp, Distressing Ink Pad 'Worn Lipstick'

So don't forget to drop by at The Sugar Bowl and have a look at what the rest of my fabulous DT sweeties have created to inspire you; and why not join in with this month's challenge while you're there. It's open to everyone, and the theme is Mother's Day/Special Lady so  come on give it a go.

You can create anything you like but it MUST include a SUGAR NELLIE STAMP (either rubber or digi) otherwise it will be removed (sorry!).

Have fun, and I look forward to seeing your creations on my return.

Hugs

Totally Gorjuss Challenge 214 - Special Christmsa

Hello everyone, this week's challenge at Totally Gorjuss is ANYTHING GOES - SPECIAL XMAS So to give you a little inspiration here's my DT card - this 8 x 8 card was made for my daughter.  Unfortunately she can't make it home this Christmas due to work commitments - she works as actress at The London Dungeons attraction. This is the first year ever she's not been at home to celebrate it with us, which is sad. I posted this card off to her today so I hope she likes it.  I tried to keep the lines clean and simple as she doesn't like anything too fussy.

To make the card I simply matted my gorgeous First Edition paper onto blue card, then cut another piece of blue card and die cut at the bottom using a new die I bought from Signature which is lovely die and was such a great price at £5.99. I stamped my LOTV sledging pair and coloured them with Copics, and then matted my image onto both cream pearlised card and blue card.  To finish off I added snow with my pearl pen, glitter, gems and a die cut poinsettia, tag and flourish.

Here's what I used.

Paper/Card: First Edition 'Slient Night' Paper Pad, Papermill 'Pearlised' Card, Blue CS, Velvet CS (for markers)

Totally Gorjuss Challenge 210 - Patterned Paper

OMG, how quickly is this month going...it must because I'm getting older or something as I'm sure I've lost a month somewhere .LOL  Anyway back to business the challenge this week  at Totally Gorjuss is ANYTHING GOES - PATTERNED PAPER So to give you a little inspiration here's my DT card.
I made this 8 x 8 for my mum and stepdad for their anniversary.  I decided to keep it simple but elegant. Using the leafy swirl stamp and a versamark ink pad I stamped onto the pink paper, and then added mica powder over the top. My patterned paper was mounted onto cream card which I'd fishtailed, and I die cut my sentiment created in CraftArtist 2 and mounted it.  To finish it off I added a ribbon and my handmade flowers.

Here's what I used.
Paper/Card: First Edition 'Love Letter', Cream and Pink Card
Stamp: Clarity 'Leafy Swirl'

Sweet Stampin' - Shaped Card Challenge

Hello everybody, well another 2 weeks has past and it's my turn to show you my Design Team card/project for the Sweet Stampin Challenge Blog. This week's challenge is to create a SHAPED CARD (No squares or rectangles allowed) with a stamped image or element on it.

For my challenge card I create a handbag - this is my take on a Fendi bag. All the templates I searched for were designed to be cut out of one piece of A4 card - making the final bag really small. So after finding a template shape I really liked (this was a download file) I adapted it so that the front panel and each bag side including the folding vent could be cut out of an A4 pieces of card, making the completed bag a good size. I stamped the body of the bag with my leafy swirl stamp and versamark ink as I wanted to create a delicate watermark look. I used a Velcro dot on the top of the bag so it could be opened and closed easily, and because I used a valley fold vent inside it also stands up perfectly. I also diecut some embellishments to hang from the bag, one of which has a greeting on it.

I made a small envelope pocket and attached it on the inside, and I stamped a small greeting card to pop inside. I wanted the inside of the bag to look neat so I lined the top clasp section and covered the ends of the ribbon with the same paper as the front.

Here's what I used:
Template: Becky Roberts  - Tres Chic Handbag
Papers: Deep Cream CS, Parchment Cream Paper, First Edition 'Desert Blooms'
Dies: Spellbinder Shapeabilities 'Damask Accents' and 'Persian Motifs'
Stamp: Clarity - Leafy Swirl
Other: Ribbon, Versamark, Cutting Machine

So why not drop by Sweet Stampin' Challenge Blog and check out what Shaped Cards my fabulous Design Teamies have created to inspire you. While you're there why not enter your card or project into the challenge - don't forget it must include a stamped image/element on it. This week's sponsor and prize is from THE HOBBY HOUSE and the monthly draw sponsor is The Ribbon Girl.

I look forward to seeing what you create.

When is Silver not Silver

Made this 8 x 8 card for my sister and brother-in-law's 25th Wedding Anniversary.  They don't like 'cute' and didn't want the traditional silver either.  So I came up with this card - cute owls, both  have been paper pieced and layered up to give a 3d feel.  They are sooooo cute, I love them.

Die cut/Punch:  Owls
Paper: First Edition 'Blank Canvas'
Punch and Cricut machine

Hope You like it.

Oriental Bliss

I made this A5 card a few weeks ago for my mum to send to my nephew's girlfriend - Kat, to celebrate her birthday.

The colours were inspired by the beautiful paper I used from First Edition's 'Summer Breeze' pad. The photo doesn't do it justice really - I'd buy the whole collection if I could. I enjoyed making this card, but it took quite a bit of working out to get the scene right and what and where mask. I'm happy with the final product and hopefully Kat was!

Here's what I used:
Stamp Set: Docrafts Tulip 'Oriental Garden'
Paper/card: First Edition's 'Summer Breeze', Orange, Teal, Glitter cardstock
Promarkers/Flexmarkers: Aquamarine, Glacier Blue, Honeydew, Duck Egg, Apple, Orange, Forest Green
Copic: YR02, E95, E00, E11, E38, E37, 100, ER32
Dies: Cheery Lynn Design Fanciful Flourish B117, Marianne Designs Small Poinsettia
Glitter, computer generated sentiment, Tumbled Glass Distressed Ink

Hope you like it.

She's just moved to Leeds to start her career as a children's nurse at Jimmy's children's hospital.  She's such a lovely girl and a pleasure to know. Chocolate & Mint...Yummy!

Made for my closest friend's son who turned 18 last week.

I used the fabulous boy with his laptop, drawn by the equally fabulous Mo Manning.  I wanted to make a simple card with an earthy look suitable for a teenage boy, and I didn't want to make it over complicated. I bought First Edition's Summer Breeze paper pad for another card I'm doing and I was so inspired by the paper designs and colours that I decided to go with a brown and mint green theme.  I must admit the papers in this pad are gorgeous! I must admit I can colour till the cows come home but I always struggle with my background layers, so after seeing many blog cards recently with the banner strips I decided to try them out, and hopefully they work well.

I used:
Pens: Promarkers, Flexmarkers, Copics, Spectum Noirs
Papers: First Edition ' Summer Breeze'
Ink: Black Memento, Tea Dye Distressing Ink
Computer generated sentiment
Image: Computer Boy from Mo's Digital Pencil
