Sugar Bowl Challenge 122 - February 2015

Good Morning My Sugary Friends!

Well it's another cold and wintery day here. Where did spring go to? Did I blink and miss it along with summer and autumn?  Anyhoo, to cheer myself up and spread a little 'love' I thought I would share a little sugary sweetness with you. So here's my (Sugar Nellie) Sugar Bowl Challenge Design Team card for you today. The theme as always is Anything Goes.

For my card this month I decided to use one of the very first images I ever used for a Sugar Bowl Design Team card, it's called 'Carnival Balloon' and she's available as a digital image and in grey rubber and you can buy her from Funkykits here. Isn't she pretty - I coloured her with my Copic Pens, and included a quote from a beautiful poem from EE Cummings in my design.

Here's What I Did
I used an 7" x 7" white card base and matted it with both lemon and pink card. I used CraftArtist2 to created my layout which I printed directly onto some colouring/blending card stock. The image, border and text were then die cut into a square, and tiny hearts were then randomly die cut into the square so the background card would be visible underneath. The die cut hearts (waste) were then coloured yellow and sprinkled with glitter for later use as embellishments.  I coloured the image with Copic markers and added glitter to the hearts on her dress, shoes and balloon. I added foam tape to the back of the topper and added it to my card base. To finish off I added some of the yellow heart embellishments and a few gems in her hair.

Here's What I Used
Digi and Rubber Stamp: 'Carnival Balloon' available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): White Card base, Pink & Lemon CS, Neenah Colouring CS
Copics: Skin - E000, E00, E02, E11, R20 / Hair - YR0000, YR000, YR00, Y11, E13, E15 / Dress, Balloon, Socks, Shoes - R14, R17, R20, R22, R30, Y11, Y17, Y21 / Eyes - G000, G02, G05 / Hearts - Y11
Dies: MFT Die-namics 'Blueprint 8', Tattered Lace 'Squares'
Other: Serif CraftArtist2, Glitter, Gems
So come on and join us in our challenge over at the Sugar Bowl - the theme is 'Anything Goes' so it's really easy and there's a great prize up for grabs. BUT REMEMBER TO ENTER THE CHALLENGE YOU MUST USE a Sugar Nellie stamp.

Don't forget if you want to see more Sugar Nellie creations made my lovely teamies why not drop by the Sugar Nellie blog or join our Facebook page (just search for the Official Sugar Nellie Group).

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Sugar Nellie - Scrapberry's Little Princess

Good Morning Sugar Peeps!

It's Thursday so it's my turn to share my Sugar Nellie DT card with you.  This week's card is made using a new range of stamps available from Funkykits called Scrapberrys and this little cutie is called 'Little Princess'.

I used an 6" x 6" card blank, and with my new Silhouette machine I cut out 2 apertures in my cardstock and the word 'Beautiful'.  These layers were mounted onto of each other with the Little Princess behind them to create an inverted frame.  This gorgeous little cutie was coloured with Copic pens and a little glitter was added to her flowers and the butterflies. To finish off, drops of pearl paint was used around her and dies cut flowers were added to the corner.
Here's What I Used
Stamp: Scrapberry's 'Little Princess' available from Funkykits

Sugar Nellie 'Story Teller'

Good morning sugar fans!

Can I just say what on earth is going on with this weather? One minute it's a glorious sunny spring day and the next it's like we've been thrown back into winter again. We've had hale, frost and heavy rain and wind - for May this is crazy.

Anyhoo, back to something sweet and summery (or should I say sugary!). It's my turn to show you one of the many stamps from the Sugar Nellie range over at Funkykits or the Etsy store. So here's my DT card for this week - I used a digital stamp this time and she's called 'Story Teller', I just think she's such a sweetie.

To see more Sugar Nellie creations made my lovely teamies why not drop by the Sugar Nellie blog or join our Facebook page (just search for the Official Sugar Nellie Group)

Here's What I Did
I made quite a simple CAS card this week. I created the layout using Serif's CraftArtist 2 by inserting the digi image onto my screen page and resized it to fit an 5" x 5" card base and mats. I then added a border, flowers and sentiment. The page was printed onto Neenah cardstock and coloured with Copics. The topper was then matted and layered onto complimentary cardstock, to finish off I added a touch of glitter to her wings.  You could easily achieve a similar looking layout using a Word Processing or a Desktop Publishing software if you wish.
Here's What I Used
Digital Stamp: Sugar Nellie 'Story Teller' available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): , Orange and Lime Papermania CS, Neenah Colouring CS
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R30 / Hair - C1, C2, C3, C5, C7, 100 / Dress, Shoes, Flowers - YR00, YR02, YR04 / Mushrooms - E00, E41, E43, E47 / Cricket and Grass - YG11, YG23, YG17, YG67 / Wings - B0000, B000, B00, B00, B0O2, YG1 / Petticoat & Dress Flowers - B000, B00, B02 / Shadow - W1, W3
Other: Serif CraftArtist 2, Glitter, Prisma Pencils, Button, Bakers Twine

Let Me Know
I'm keen to know if there's anything you'd like to learn or know how to do eg how to emboss, use shrink plastic, make a tag etc. Or is there anything you'd like to see included on the Sugar Nellie blog. If so let me know - either leave me a comment or email me.

I have been asked about using Shrink Plastic - so watch this space.

Why not visit my lovely design teamies over at Sugar Nellie and check out everyone's sugary creations.  There's still time to enter this month's challenge over at the Sugar Bowl - the theme is 'April Showers Bring May Flowers'. Sugar Nellie - Candy Pip

Helloooo and good morning!

Well my lovely hubbie treat me to a few days in York last week to celebrate my birthday, and the weather was glorious -- sunny and warm. I couldn't believe my luck!  We only live about an hour away so I go quite frequently, but we don't usually stay over but on this occasion we did and it was lush.  The hotel was so handy - 5 mins from the Minster and the shops, plus it was so quaint, we even had a 4 poster bed and very creaky floor boards :).

We had such a wonderful and relaxing time --- but we were exhausted from all the walking and climbing the stairs to our 2nd floor bedroom. I also had a great time stocking up on my crafty goodies, well I had to spend my birthday money didn't I  :-)

Anyhoo, it's my turn to show you one of the many stamps from the Sugar Nellie range over at Funkykits. So here's my DT card for you using rubber stamp  'Candy Pip', isn't she a cutie.

 Here's What I Did
The gorgeous sunny April weather inspired me to create a fresh and bright card. I used a white 6" x 6" card base, and matted it with both plain purple CS and my patterned paper.  I then die cut 3 circles, the plain and scalloped strips and the flowers. Candy Pip was stamped 3 times, coloured with Copics and fussy cut out. I then added her, the strips to create a little ledge for her to sit on and flower using foam tape to give a little dimension to my card. To finish off  I doodled around the circle, and added some gems and my punched out butterflies.

Here's what I used:
Rubber Stamp: Sugar Nellie 'Candy Pip' available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): , Cream, Purple and Lilac Papermania CS, First Edition 'New Bloom'
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R30 / Dress, Shoes, Flowers - V09, V12, V15, V17 / Striped Jumper & Socks - BG10, BG13, BG15 / Flower Centres - Y00, Y17
Dies: Die-namics MFT 'Blueprint 3 & 8', Tonic 'Layering Circles & Scallop Circles'
Other: Serif CraftArtist 2, Mini Butterfly Punch, Copic Black Fineliner Pen, Gems

Sugar Bowl Challenge 115 - April Showers

Well can you believe it we're almost at the end of April already - it was my birthday yesterday and yes I'm officially an old woman.  But to soften the blow my hubbie's taken me away to York for a few days to do a little retail therapy ;-)

So to ease you from April into May here's my card for The Sugar Bowl. The theme this month is April Showers Bring May Flowers.

Why not join in with us and make a card/project.  Don't forget your project MUST include a Sugar Nellie stamp or digi stamp - both are available from Funkykits or the Etsy  shop.  If you're not sure if the stamp you wish use IS a Sugar Nellie stamp or not, you can either sent me a message with it's name/picture or visit the Sugar Bowl website and send an email to Sugar Mama using the link there.

So here's my card for you:

Here's What I Did
I die cut a fold pieces of card to make my scalloped base case, then die cut another piece of the same card and added it to the front. I die cut 3 circles in coloured CS which I matted and layered.  I then stamped my image onto Neenah CS and coloured her in with Copics and cut her out. I die cut another circle and put my image temporarily in place and drew the raindrops and puddle around her. She was removed and I coloured everything in and added a little glitter.  To finish off I glued the little girl image and the duck in place and added the 3 banner strips to the side.

Here's everything I used:
Stamp:  Little Ducky' Sugar Nellie rubber stamp from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): White Neenah, Yellow and Blue CS, Molly Bloom Paper 'Birthday' kit
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R30 / Hair - E02, E33, E37 / Dress & Puddle - B0000,  B00, B05, B021 / Armbands & Duck - Y02, Y11, Y35, Y38
Dies: Tonic Layering Die 'Circle', Spellbinders 'Grand Scallop Circles', Sizzix 'Banner #2'
Other: 'Tumbled Glass' Distressing Ink, Glitter, Copic Fineliner, Serif CraftArtist2, Glossy Accents

So don't forget to drop by at The Sugar Bowl and have a look at what the rest of my fabulous DT sweeties have created to inspire you; and why not join in with this month's challenge while you're there. It's open to everyone, and the theme is April Showers Bring May Flowers so come on give it a go.

If you want to be in with a chance of being in our Top 3 or even a Guest Designer then please remember to use a Sugar Nellie stamp.

Have fun, and I look forward to seeing your creations on my return.

Sugar Nellie - Bad Hare Day

Good morning everybody, I hope you are all enjoying the spring weather.

It's my turn this week to show you one of the stamps from the Sugar Nellie range over at Funkykits. So here's my DT card using this cutie digital stamp ‘Bad Hare Day’.  The originally plan was to repaint my new wooden heart shaped hanging thingy to showcase my stamp along with bits of paper, stamped images, flowers but I had a nightmare. I'm not really much good glue and tend to get it everywhere but where I want it...well I had the same nightmare with blue paint. I‘ve now come to realise up-cycling wooden objects might need a tad more practice and a lot more play time ---- and possibly better acrylic paints.  My hubbie just shakes his head. LOL
Aw well, I might give it another try for my next project - well maybe!!.
Anyhoo, back to this week's DT card --- after doing a crafty detour I’ve created an 8 x 8 Easter card scene.  I like to use different mediums as you know, so this week I decided to use my Prisma Pencils  as they were gathering dust in their tin box - I did however use my Copics to add a base layer before using my pencils.

Here's What I Did
I attached some gorgeous glittery aqua coloured card onto my white base card and punches out 2 borders and added them to each side.  I used the same aqua coloured card as the background (sky) and base of the scene, From the same paper pad I cut out a few green hills in different directions and added distressing ink on the edges.  These were layered up onto the background (sky) card, and I placed a few of the glittered stickers from the pad around the scene and added my girl image.  I die cut the picket fence, bird table, bird and clouds and attached them to the card.  To finish off my scene I added a little glitter, the sentiment and some punched out flowers and butterflies around the image.

Here's what I used:
Digital Stamp: 'Bad Hare Day' available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): , Blue, White & Cream CS, First Edition 'Spring Drop''
Prisma Pencils & Copics: Skin - E0000, Light Peach, Peach, Burnt Ochre / Cheeks, Lips & Rabbit Ears - R000, Blush Pink, Pink, Magenta / Rabbit - E000, Beige, Gingeroot, Burnt Ochre / Hair - Y000, Lemon Yellow, Canary Yellow, Golden Rod, Spanish Orange /  Dress (Green) - YG11, Spring Green, Apple Green, Grass Green / Dress (Blue), Shoes, Eyes - B000, cloud Blue, True Blue, Light Cerulean Blue, Copenhagen Blue, White
Dies: Die-namics 'Blueprint 8', Marianne Designs ' LR0205', Joy! 'Clouds'
Other: Mini Buterfly Punch, Serif CraftArtist 2, White Gel Pen, Glitter, Mini Butterfly Punch, Flower Punch

Let Us know

Sugar Nellie Design Team Card - April

Big News: I'm now part of the Sugar Nellie Design Team as well as being as being a Sweetie for the Sugar Bowl Challenges.  I'm sharing my new role with another sweetie Pami - so we'll be creating a card/project on alternative weeks.  So watch this space!

To create this card I cut down an cream 8" x 8" card base to 7" x 7". The little fairy was printed directly onto the glittered background card, then printed a further 4 times onto white Neenah CS, then coloured, cut out and layered up.

Here's What I Did
Using Serif's Craft Artist2 software I created 2 squares placing one inside the other - the outer one measuring 6" x 6" square and the other measuring 5.5" x 5.5". This was done to make sure I took into account the glittered border on the paper. I then inserted my digi stamp into the centre square and resized it accordingly and added my curved text above her. To ensure I had everything placed correctly and in the right size I printed onto copier paper first, this also let me know which direct it would come out of the printer. The print out was then checked against my glittered card stock to ensure my image would fit correctly. When I was happy, I taped my glittered card stock onto another piece of plain copier paper in exactly the same place and orientation as shown on my tester sheet using Scotch Repositionable (removable) tape. I then placed it in the printer and printed it out and voila - my image and text was printed exactly in the centre of my glittered CS.

I then printed the image onto Neenah cardstock a further 4 times and coloured her in with my Copics.  The whole fairy was cut out first, and cut out again but minus some elements, then just her wings which were cut out and glittered. I coloured the mushrooms with Copics directly onto the cardstock to give a rustic feel. Then I added the green CS and glittered CS to my card base; the first fairy layer was glued directly onto the mushroom, and the other layers were raised up using foam pads. To finish off my scene I added a little gem to her hair, gave certain areas a little highlight with a white gel pen and placed some punched out butterflies around the image.

Here's what I used:
Digital Stamp: Dreams & Wishes from Funkykits.  Digital stamps also available from Etsy
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Santoro 'Mirabelle' 6 x 6 Paper Pad, Cream Card Base, Green CS
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, R30 / Hair - YR0000, YR000, YR00, E13, E99 / Dress, Flowers & Shoes - R000, R00, R20, R22 / Mushrooms- W-0,W-1,W-2, W-3,W-5, W-7 / Grass & Leaves - YG06, YG09, YG63,YG67
Other: Serif CraftArtist 2, White Gel Pen, Glitter, Mini Butterfly Punch

Let Us know
I'm keen to know if there's anything you'd like to learn or know how to do eg how to emboss, use shrink plastic, make a tag etc. Or is there anything you'd like to see included on the Sugar Nellie blog. If so let me know - either leave me a comment or email me.

I hope you like my first creation as an official Sugar Nellie DT member. Why not join us over at the Sugar Bowl challenge (114) for this month - but remember to use a Sugar Nellie stamp.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Sugar Bowl Challenge 114 - Easter/Spring Time

Hi there, it seems we're fast approaching Spring time....thankfully. Here at the The Sugar Bowl the theme this month is quite apt - it's Easter/Spring Time.  So get your Sugar Nellie stamps out and have a go.

Why not join in with us and make a card/project for the special someone in your life, but don't forget your project MUST include a Sugar Nellie stamp or digi stamp - both are available from Funkykits. If you're not sure if your stamp IS a Sugar Nellie stamp either sent me a message with it's name/picture or visit the Sugar Bowl website and send an email to Sugar Mama using the link there.

BIG NEWS: Funkykits now has a new Etsy shop where you can buy Sugar Nellie digi stamps - why not check them out.

Here's my little 'spring' card for you:

Here's What I Did
I used a 6 x 6 white card base and matted some patterned paper onto it - it's a pretty lilac colour but it looks a little washed out in my photo :(  I stamped my little gardening girl onto Neenah CS and again onto copier paper.  From the copier paper I cut out the girl with the flowers closest to her, and cut out the butterfly and a small hill shape - all to create a mask.  Using non-permanent tape I covered the girl, flowers and butterfly up and covered the area where I wanted my grassy area. Using distressing ink and my handmade cloud template I created some cloud shapes.  The rest of the image was always coloured with copics and Prisma Pencils. the grass was created using just green pen dots.

The arch window aperture was die cut and embossed and I coloured the daisy centres with a copic pen. To finish off I added some punched out butterflies and sprinkling of glitter.

Here's everything I used:
Stamp:  'Garden Daisy' Sugar Nellie stamp available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): White Neenah, First Edition 'Spring drop', White and Lilac CS
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, R30 / Hair - YR0000, YR000, YR00, E13, E99 / Dress, Shoes - V01, V02, V04, V05, V06  / Flowers and tights - RV000, RV00, RV02  / Watering Can, Butterfly & Flower Centres - Y000, Y15, Y38 / Grass and Leaves - YG00, YG03, YG09, YG17
Dies: MFT Die-namics 'Blueprints 3 & 8'
Other: Butterfly Punch, Inkydoodles Mask 'Daisy Daisy', 'Tumbled Glass' Distressing Ink, Glitter

So don't forget to drop by at The Sugar Bowl and have a look at what the rest of my fabulous DT sweeties have created to inspire you; and why not join in with this month's challenge while you're there. It's open to everyone, and the theme is Easter/Spring Time so come on give it a go.

If you want to be in with a chance of being in our Top 3 or even a Guest Designer then please remember to use a Sugar Nellie stamp.

Have fun, and I look forward to seeing your creations on my return.

Yey, My Sugar Nellie Card

Wowsa, look who's on the Sugar Nellie blog....lol me!!

I know I usually create a monthly Design Team card for The Sugar Bowl challenge blog. However, the Sugar Bowl sweeties were asked if we'd like to create a card especially for the Sugar Nellie blog this month as well.....and of course I said YES. So gulp, here it is.  I hope you like it!

OMG I hope it's up to the high standard that's expected over at Sugar Nellie's; the cards shown there are always stunning.

I made this sweet little shaped card using a Sugar Nellie digital stamp and coloured her in with my Copics, to add a little bit of sparkle I added a touch of glitter to her wings.  I covered the base card in patterned paper and added a little distressing ink around the edges. I then die cut a small border strip, and added the matted image onto circles. To soften the edge of the main image I used some pan pastel. I love making my own handmade flowers as they always give such a personal touch, so I die cut a few different types plus a few leaves.  To finish her off I added a little gem to her hair, some pearls to the flowers and a cute yellow flower button.

Here's what I used:
Digital Stamp:  'A Little Bit Of Gossip' from the Return To Fairy Glen Release available from Funkykits.
Paper/Cardstock: Dovecraft 'Garden Party', Orange, Green & Pink CS, Craftwork Cards - Shaped Card Base
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, R30 / Hair - YR0000, YR000, YR00, E13, E18, E25 / Dress, Flower Centres & Shoes - Y000, Y00, Y15, Y38 / Cardigan & Flowers - R81, R85, 00 / Ladybird - R81, R35 / Leaves - G21, G82, G14, 00
Dies: Tonic layering circle dies, Joanna Sheen's Signature dies,  Small and Medium Britannia 'Multi Rose' Dies, Marianne Designs 'Swirl Rose' and Tattered Lace 'Embellishment' dies.
Other: TH Distressing Ink - Worn Lipstick, Pan Pastels - Turquoise, Gem, Pearls, Button, Graph' It Blender Sheet

I hope you like my first creation for Sugar Nellie. Why not join us over at the Sugar Bowl there's still time to enter the December challenge. So come on down!!!

I look forward to see you soon.

Well here it is, my first ever DT post.

This sweetie is for Sugar Nellie's Sugar Bowl Challenge 107 - September 2013.  Hope you like it!

I've never made a tag before so I though hey-ho why not give it a go (OMG that rhymed). I made the tag myself, basically it's a rectangular piece of white card with a shaped top made by using a spellbinder die. The background was made with distressing inks, stamped flowers and words with a splash of glitter. It's hard to see but the stamped flower petals have had their colour removed - just by using a damp brush and a piece of kitchen roll.   I printed this gorgeous girl out 4 times, then coloured certain section of her in with Copics and Prisma pencils, and cut out them out and layered her up.  The doily edge was made with an XCut border punch that I only bought the other day - it's so dainty and pretty.

Here's what I used:
Digi stamp: Carnival Balloon by Krista Smith from Funkykits
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E01, E13, R20 / Hair - YR0000, E000, E13, E99, E37 / Purple Skirt & Socks - BV000, BV00, BV02, BV04, BV25 / Pink Dress - RV000,/ RV00, RV13, RV34, RV69 / Shoes/Belt - YR0000, YR000, YR00, E13 /Eyes - RV0000, RV00, RV13 / Flowers - RV000, RV00, RV13 / Balloons - RV000, RV00, RV02, RV13, RV34, BV000, BV00, BV02, RV04
Distressing Ink: Dusty Concord, Worn Lipstick, Tumbled Glass
Background Stamp: My Minds Eye 'Tangerine 'Hello'
Border Punch: Xcut (don't know the name)
Die: Crafts-Too Frame 6
OtherCrystal Glitter, Ribbon (bought by my sweet daughter who paid a fortune for it in a London store), Gems, Buttons, Bakers twine

Why not visit the The Sugar Bowl and have a look at what the rest of my DT buddies have created, and why not join in with the challenge. It's open to everyone and the theme is 'Anything Goes' so why not give it a go. You can create anything you like but it MUST include a SUGAR NELLIE STAMP (either rubber or digi) otherwise it will be removed (sorry!).  Rubber stamps can be bought from Funkykits (UK) or Sugar Nellie (USA), digi stamps can be bought from either.

The prize for one lucky winner picked at random is 4 Sugar Nellie stamps from FunkyKits or 6 if there's more than 100 entries.

So come on 'you've got to be in to win it' - so get entering.

Hugs and Happy Crafting.
