Whimsy Stamps Birthday Instagram Hop

Hi guys ðŸ’œ

Today I'd love to share some Whimsy magic with you to celebrate our 10th birthday. To start off our party week we are having a Instagram Hop to share some inspiration, so if you have an Instagram account why not follow us and join in with the fun, there will be lovely random prizes to the win. Here is the link --- http://instagram.com/whimsystamps

Not done an Instagram hop before?
Well it's really easy - To be in with a chance of winning a random prize, you must ---

1. Firstly you need an Instagram (IG) account, so if you don't have one why not set one up, it's free and really easy to do.

2. Then use the search bar at the top of the page and type in Whimsy Stamps to go to their Instagram page. Once on their IG page press 'Follow' to follow Whimsy Stamps.

3. From the Whimsy gallery of pictures select the Birthday Hop photo - this will be the 1st picture. Press the speech bubble icon beneath the photo and type a comment, press Post to send it.

3. In the comments below this Birthday Hop photo there will be a link to the next person in our hop, this will be displayed as eg @jaycue23 (this will be a design team member). Press the member's name to travel to her Instagram page. You must again press 'Follow' to follow her, then select her birthday Hop card (1st picture) in her gallery and again leave a comment as in step 3. This person will have the next person in the hop displayed in the comments under her photo, so simply repeat the 'follow' and 'comment' procedure.

4. Repeat the steps for the total hop (there are 19 hops including whimsystamps)

5. Tag a friend for an extra chance of winning a random prize, you do this by adding a @ sign in front of their Instagram account name eg @jaycue23

We will be picking people at random drawn from each design team member's post, and will announce the winner on the Whimsy Instagram page on Monday, December 17th. Have fun and good luck.

To celebrate our birthday and IG hop I have created a card using the cute digital stamp 'Froggie Hoppy Day 1'. He's available from the Whimsy Stamps online store (see the links below).

PSSST...on our Facebook page we have a fabulous free polar bear digi courtesy of Crissy Armstrong, so go check it out. :)

Here's What I Did
Using a graphics program I created a backdrop with a sentiment and heart from one of our digi papers. After printing out the backdrop it was mounted onto some pink card and then onto the card front.

The image was stamped onto colouring card, coloured with Copics and fussy cut out. I die cut a '1' and '0' from pink glitter card and glued these both to his hands. The whole image was attached to the card front using foam pads.  Glossy accents was added to the frogs eyes to make them bulge.

To finish the card a few gems were added to the corners plus a little glitter on his hat.

Here's What I Used

Craftsulove Design Team - November #3

Morning everyone 💜

Today I'm sharing the last of my Craftulove cards using the snow globe stamp and die set from Studiolight, plus some green gingham paper pad from Echo Park.  I've kept my Christmas card CAS this week by just using the stamp, die and a few gems. I hope you like it. x

Just a little note about the snowglobe set I've used, it includes a snowglobe dome and base stamp plus 3 interior stamps featuring different snowy scenes. Over the month of November I have used 2 of the scenes plus the included sentiment.  All the links to the specific Craftuslove products can be found below, and the link to the general store is here.

Here's What I Did
I added a piece of pattered paper to the front of a 4" x 4" white card blank.

I stamped the snow globe onto colouring card and coloured it with Copic pens. Glitter was added to the snow and trees, then a white pen was used for the snow flakes. When the scene was finished it was cut out.

I stamped the snow globe base section onto brown colouring card, and added a little shading with Copic pens. When the colouring was finished the base was cut it out and glued over the top of the previously stamp snow globe.

Using the snow globe die I cut out the shape using black card, then glued the coloured image on top. The topper was then added to the card front using foam pads. To complete the card 6 green gems from my own stash were added to the top and bottom of the card front.

Available from Craftsulove
Stamp & Die Set: 'Basic Clear Stamp & Die Set No 18' by Studio Light

So what are you waiting for?  There are a few do's and don'ts on our Challenge Blog, plus information on where to upload your projects. Usually the Design Team and myself create a new card/project to inspire you, but this month we are sharing one of our favourites card or stamps from 2018. So myself and all the girls will be adding our cards to the folder over the course of the challenge. So for my card this week and for this challenge I am re-sharing a card I made originally in July. I just love this little digi stamps by the lovely Crissy Armstrong. I was so chuffed with myself when I managed to colour the fireside glow, that I was glowing too. :) I hope you like it...again. x

Here's What I Did
I trimmed a piece of green card to 6½" x 6½" and a piece of navy card to 6¼" x 6¼" and attached them to the card front. Using my graphics software (I used MS PowerPoint) I imported my digital paper, then the sentiment which was recoloured white. The penguin stamp was imported over the top and resized accordingly. This was printed straight onto colouring card and trimmed to 6" x 6".

The penguin stamp was coloured using Copic pens, and then the completed topper was attached to the card front.

Please note - I did remove the white background from the digital stamp in a graphics program first.  However, you could achieve the same look by printing and cutting out the image, then layering it over the top of the printed out paper.

Here's What I Used
New Release Digital Stamp: Penguin Campfire

Whimsy Stamps - November New Release #1

Hi there guys💜

Today, it's my turn to share one of the new release digi stamps from Whimsy Stamps, but instead I'm sharing two. So for my card today I've used the cutest little seals drawn by the lovely Crissy Armstrong. Aren't they sweet.

All the links to the specific Whimsy products can be found below and the link to the general store is here.

Here's What I Did
First I added matted my card blank with a piece of red card leaving a slim border around the edges. Using my graphics software I imported the cute seal images and printed them directly onto Neenah card. I coloured the images with Copic pens and cut them out, I also trimmed off on the bottom half of the baby seal (poor thing!).

I sketched out 3 separate icebergs (or ice mountains) onto light blue card, then sponged Tumbled Glass distressing ink over the top, then added Faded Jeans distressing ink to the edges. When the ink  was completely dry I added glitter to the very edges of the icebergs.

I cut down a piece of dark grey card to fit the card front, which I then sprayed lightly with white stain. In addition to this I also die cut a circle from light grey card and very lightly sponged Black Soot distressing ink over the top, and left them both to dry.  When dry the moon and icebergs were then glued into place on the grey card.

Next I cut a strip of pale blue vellum bigger than the width of the grey card and wrapped it across the bottom of the icebergs and secured it on back of the card, I also added a few dots of glue where I knew I was going to add the adult seal and icy hole. The grey card containing the scene was then added to the card front on top of the red card. A die cut oval cut from silver mirror card and the two seals, plus a 'Merry Christmas' sentiment were adhered to the card front to finish the scene. To complete the card, glitter was added to the hat fur of the two seals.

Here's What I Used
New Release Digital Stamp: Seal On Ice
New Release Digital Stamp: Seal In Water

Other: 6" x 6" White Card Blank, Neenah Card, Red Card, Blue Vellum, Silver Mirror Card, Dark Grey Card, Light Grey Card, Light Blue Card, Distressing inks (Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, Black Soot), Distress Ink Spray Stain (Picket Fence), Glitter, Merry Christmas Die (Die'sire), White Pen

Copics: Seals - C1, C2, C3, C5, C7, 100 / Scarf & Hat - R17, R27, R37, ,R59, W1, W3 / Present - B05, B12, R17, R27, R37, R59

Our new facebook challenge #110  started on the 15th October, and there's still loads of time to enter, so come and grab something Whimsy and join in with us. There will be a  fabulous $15 prize to win and the theme as always is 'Anything Goes'.

Craftsulove Design Team - October Card #3

Morning everyone 💜

Today I'm sharing the last of my October Craftulove Design Team cards with you using the beautiful stamp set from Julie Hickey called 'Garden Treasures'. I loved making this card, and it was so easy to create, so check out how what I did below. x

All the links to the specific Craftuslove products can be found below, and the link to the general store is here.

Here's What I Did
I have been asked by several crafters on Facebook if I would  create a tutorial on how I created the autumnal panel for my 5" x 7" card seen above, so here is it. Could I please point out that the tutorial pictures are not identical to the finished card above, as I photographed this tutorial after I made it.

1. First cut a strip of white card 2¼" x 7" and apply Mustard Seed distress ink as shown in the picture below.

2. Next apply Spiced Marmalade distress ink, see picture below.

3. Reapply Mustard Seed, then a little more Spiced Marmalade and blend together.

4. Then add Fired Brick distressing ink in random area over the top of the other inks, see below.

5. Start to blend the colours together. First reapply the Mustard Seed, then the Spiced Marmalade, and finally the Fired Brick. Keep repeating this process until you are happy with the result. Don't worry if it looks a bit splodgey, just keep going. This is how mine turned out, see below.

6. Using your fingers, flick water over the panel and leave for a minutes or two and blot with kitchen paper. To add finer flicks of water use either an old toothbrush, a paint brush or a splatter brush (I used a Tim Holtz one), and blot off again. Leave the panel to dry for a few minutes.

 7. Using a Nuvo Gold Midas pen flick the gold mica ink over the panel to add some shimmer, and leave to dry (this is optional).

8. Stamp the flowers and leaves in varying height using Versamark black ink (take care not to smudge it), and leave to dry.
9. Add Black Soot distress ink around the edges of the panel to frame it.

10. To make the flowers and leaves 'pop' add detail to them using a white pen.

11. Mount the finished panel onto a piece of black card.

12. Stamp the sentiment towards the bottom section of the card front, and add to the panel.

13. To complete the card add a few gems near to the sentiment.
