Sugar Bowl Challenge 122 - February 2015

Good Morning My Sugary Friends!

Well it's another cold and wintery day here. Where did spring go to? Did I blink and miss it along with summer and autumn?  Anyhoo, to cheer myself up and spread a little 'love' I thought I would share a little sugary sweetness with you. So here's my (Sugar Nellie) Sugar Bowl Challenge Design Team card for you today. The theme as always is Anything Goes.

For my card this month I decided to use one of the very first images I ever used for a Sugar Bowl Design Team card, it's called 'Carnival Balloon' and she's available as a digital image and in grey rubber and you can buy her from Funkykits here. Isn't she pretty - I coloured her with my Copic Pens, and included a quote from a beautiful poem from EE Cummings in my design.

Here's What I Did
I used an 7" x 7" white card base and matted it with both lemon and pink card. I used CraftArtist2 to created my layout which I printed directly onto some colouring/blending card stock. The image, border and text were then die cut into a square, and tiny hearts were then randomly die cut into the square so the background card would be visible underneath. The die cut hearts (waste) were then coloured yellow and sprinkled with glitter for later use as embellishments.  I coloured the image with Copic markers and added glitter to the hearts on her dress, shoes and balloon. I added foam tape to the back of the topper and added it to my card base. To finish off I added some of the yellow heart embellishments and a few gems in her hair.

Here's What I Used
Digi and Rubber Stamp: 'Carnival Balloon' available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): White Card base, Pink & Lemon CS, Neenah Colouring CS
Copics: Skin - E000, E00, E02, E11, R20 / Hair - YR0000, YR000, YR00, Y11, E13, E15 / Dress, Balloon, Socks, Shoes - R14, R17, R20, R22, R30, Y11, Y17, Y21 / Eyes - G000, G02, G05 / Hearts - Y11
Dies: MFT Die-namics 'Blueprint 8', Tattered Lace 'Squares'
Other: Serif CraftArtist2, Glitter, Gems

Inky Chicks - Flowers

Good evening everyone!

On this cold and wintery Tuesday evening I'm here to share my Inky Chicks Design Team card and a little bit of sunshine with you. Our theme this week is Flowers

Our sponsor is Cute As A Button, and we got to choose one of Francesca's fabulous images to play with, so I chose this little cutie. She's called Lego Queen and I coloured her with Copic markers.

Here's What I did
I used a 5" x 5" white card base and matted and layered it with some plain card and patterned paper (PP).  I created the layout with the image and text in CraftArtist 2 and printed it directly onto white colouring/blending card stock. Using the PP as my guide I coloured my image with Copic markers so that everything would tie in together; this was also the case for the coloured card I used. To draw the eye in towards the image I used blue distressing inks around the edge.  The image was then matted and layered onto 2 die cut squares, and stuck to the card base using foam tape to raise it up slightly. To finish off I added a die cut photo corner along with a flower and some leaves.

Here's everything I used:
Digi Stamp: 'Lego Queen' by Cute As A Button
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Orange & Red CS, Craftwork Cards Super Smooth Digital CS, 'Bake A Cake' Paper Pad (Mag Freebie)
Dies: Tonic Layering 'Square' & 'Scallop Square' Dies, MFT Die-namics - 'Photo Corners', 'Gerber'  and 'Blueprint 14'
Copic Pens: Skin - E000, E00, E11, R20 / Hair - Y17, Y21, E31, E35 / Striped Jumper - R14, R17, Y17, Y21 / Shading - W1, W2 / Top - G02, G14, G21 /  Jean - B32, B93, BG95, W5 / Shoes - Y000, Y21, Y38, R14, R17 / Lego - E31, E33, E35, R20, W1, W3, Y21, Y17, Y38, R14, R17, R37,  G02, G14, G21 / Eyes - B32, B60  / Ground - W0, W1, W3, 00
Other: Distressing Ink 'Tumbled Glass & Salty Sea. 'Fineliner Pen

Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Spring Flowers

Hello and good morning everyone ---

Here in the UK it's starting to look a lot like spring ---- yay!! So at Sweet Stampin' our timely theme this week is' 'Spring Flowers'.

My card this week is all about new things - new dies to make my flowers (which I love) and a new stamp from a company that is also new to me called Crafty Sentiment Designs. CSD's designs are beautifully drawn and very sweet, they're also fab to colour. I especially love this little sweetie, isn't she pretty. I coloured her with my Inktense pencils on watercolour card and added a little glitter to her garland of flowers.

Here's What I did
I used an A5 scalloped card base on which I matted and layered some pink card and 2 pretty patterned papers. I stamped the girl onto watercolour CS and die cut it with a stitched edge rectangle die. The image was coloured using Inktense pencils (watercolour pencils) and added to a blue card mat.

The completed topper was then attached to a long strip of pink card with a die cut scalloped edge. I wrapped a piece of ribbon around the edge, and attached it to the card base using foam tape to give it more dimension. To finish off I added a couple of die cut flowers and leaves, along with a touch of glitter on the girl's flower garland.

Here's everything I used:
Rubber Stamp: Lollipop Dreams 'Welcome Spring' by Crafty Sentiment Designs
Paper/Cardstock (CS):  A5 White Scallop Card Base, Pink, Blue, Green, Yellow, White CS, LOTV (Lilli Of the Valley) 'Bonnets & Bowties' Paper Pad, Watercolour CS
Inktense Pencils: Skin - Baked Earth, Saddle Brown, Scarlet Pink  / Hair - Mustard, Saddle Brown, Bark / Dress - Scarlet Pink, Poppy Red, Chilli Red / Petticoat - Cadmium Yellow, Baked Earth / Flower Garland - Iris Blue, Deep Blue, Apple Green, Beech Green / Background - Cadmium Yellow, Scarlet Pink, Iris Blue, Apple Green / Grass - Apple Green, Beech Green, Felt Green
Dies: MFT Die-namics Gerber,  'Blueprint 3 & 14', Lawn Fawn 'Small Stitched Rectangles', Creative Expressions 'Camellia Complete Petals'

Sugar Nellie Design Team Card - Abi Ballerina

Good morning all.

I hope you're all well and enjoying the lovely spring weather here in the UK - and to all my international friends I hope you're all having good weather wherever you are.

I know I usually post my Sugar Nellie Design Team on a Thursday, but my posting day has now changed to a Wednesday, so without further ado here is my card for this week. As I can feel a spot of spring in the air, I decided to go green and fresh and use one of the cute All Dressed Up (ADU) rubber stamps.

Isn't she pretty in her little tutu!! She's called 'Abi Ballerina' and she's available in grey rubber from the Funkykits online shop. She stamps beautifully and is a dream to colour; I coloured her with my with Copic markers and added a touch of glitter to her dress so she would sparkle and shine.

Here's What I Did
I started with a 7" x 7" white card base and matted it with green card and 2 different patterned papers. To cover the joint of the patterned papers I added a green border strip with ribbon. I stamped my image onto my colouring cardstock and coloured it in with Copic pens, the finished image was then die cut it into a circle along with a green mat which I glued together. I chopped off a section of the circle topper and added it to my card base. To finish off I glittered up her tutu, added few die cut sequins (yes I created my own!), a bow, gem and some pearls.

Here's What I Used
Stamp: 'Abi Ballerina' rubber stamp available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): 7" x 7" Card Base, LOTV 'Shabby Shutters', Create & Craft Green CS, Craftwork Cards Digital Super Smooth Card, Acetate,

Sugar Nellie Design Team Card

Good Morning Sugar Friends!

Well it's a cold and frosty morning here in my area of the UK, and we're expecting more snow again today. Unfortunately I have to venture out as I need to take my mum for her hospital appointment and to also see my stepdad.  I hope wherever you are that it's not too bad, and you continue to keep safe and warm.

One a good note - my stepdad is coming home today after 3 weeks in hospital. Mind you I did need to do a little pushing and shoving to get the 'stupid' red tape moving along - why is it that hospital departments never seem to talk to each other!!! Anyhow my numerous phone calls finally paid off and thankfully he'll be home around about lunchtime with a 'care package' in place. He just needs to build up his strength now and get back to some kind of normality :)

Anyhoo, back to my Sugar Nellie Design Team card for you this week.  I again decided to use one of the new clear stamp sets from Scrapberry - this set is called 'Cherry' and it's available from Funkykits here.  Isn't she gorgeous - I just love these rabbits they're so cute. They are a really good size to work with, and stamp beautifully even on watercolour card. I coloured her with my Derwent Inktense Pencils.

Here's What I Did
I used a 5" x 5" card base and matted it with a piece of patterned paper. The rabbits were stamped with Stazon ink onto watercolour card, and coloured with Derwent Inktense Pencils (watercolour pencils). I added a light wash first in smallish area, and layered up the colours to add shade and dimension - making sure I worked quite quickly before the ink had chance to dry. I die cut the finished image into a square (with a curved edge); and then using another die I added a punched hole effect down one edge in which I threaded some twine and a charm.  The finished topper was then stuck to the scarlet die cut stitched square using foam pads to raise it up. To finish off I added a few die cut flowers, pearls and a gem.
Here's What I Used
  • Rubber Stamp: Scrapberry 'Cherry' available from Funkykits
  • Inktense Pencils: Rabbit & Friend - Tan, Amber, Willow, Bark / Pinafore Dress & Hat - Sun Yellow, Cadmium Yellow, Sicilian Yellow, Burnt Orange, Bark / Underdress - Scarlet Red, Burnt Orange, Bark /  Bows & Hat Ribbon - Scarlet Pink, Burnt Orange, Bark / Flowers & Leaves - Scarlet Pink, Burnt Orange, Deep Rose, Red Violet, Apple Green, Hooker's Green / Cherries - Burnt Orange, Poppy Red, Hot Red, Bark / Basket - Tan, Amber, Baked Earth, Bark / Background - Scarlet Pink / Ground - Tan, Madder Brown
  • Paper/Cardstock (CS): Watercolour Card, Lili Of The Valley (LOTV) 'Country Meadow' Paper Pad, Pink CS, Deep Pink CS, Scarlet CS
  • Dies: MFT Die-namics 'Blueprint 14', Creative Expressions 'Camellia - Complete Petals'
  • Other: Twine, Charm, Pearls, Gem
