Sweet Stampin' Design Team Card - Spots And/Or Stripes

Hello and good morning everyone ---

Well it's Saturday and Sweet Stampin' time - so I'm here to share my Design Team Challenge project with you. Our fab theme this week is 'Spots And/Or Stripes', and I think you can see what I chose to use......Spots. Lol

This is actually the card I made for my mum's birthday, and I loved this stamp when I first spotted it (oops sorry for the pun!), so bought it straight away. It just reminds me of my mum; she tends to nods off to sleep at the drop of a hat especially when we're in mid conversation....I guess my voice lull her off to sleep or something. Lol  I decided to create a frame card and decoupage the central image which I coloured with Copic pens.

 

 

Here's What I Did
I used a 7" x 7" white card and matted it with blue spotty paper.  I die cut a large frame from white card using 2 square dies and added it to the card front with funky foam to raise it up.  The sentiment was printed directly onto colouring card and die cut into a square. The image was hand stamped next to the sentiment and just the chair was coloured in with Copic pens.

The image was stamped again onto colouring card and just the sleeping woman was coloured in using Copic pens, and then fussy cut out. The square topper was attached to the inside of the frame along with the woman using foam pads. To complete the card I added pearls to the top and bottom of the frame, and stamped lots of pale blue dots everywhere and added glitter.

Sweet Stampin' Design Team Card - Babies

Hello and good morning everyone ---

Well it's Saturday and Sweet Stampin' time - so I'm here to share my Design Team Challenge project with you. Our fab theme this week is 'Babies',  so for my project decided to use one of the gorgeous baby stamps from LOTV. I've always loved their rubber stamps but found the detail quite small and difficult to colour (I have rubbish eye sight) but now they've converted a lot to digital I adore them and have bought quite a few. So watch this space as you'll probably see more in the future.

I coloured this cute guy in with my Copic pens which have been gathering dust in the corner of my craft room. I tried to keep my card CAS, both in layout and in colouring to allow me to show of this fab little boy and his toy.

Here's What I Did
I used a 5" x 5" white scalloped card and matted it with green card.  After cutting a piece of patterned paper to size I die cut it with a pin hole effect die, this was then add it to the card front. The boy image was printed directly onto colouring card, coloured with Copic pens and die cut into a circle. An additional circle was cut from blue card using a scalloped die, and the boy image was glued on top.

The circle topper was then added to the card front using foam pads. To complete the card glitter was added to the stars, and 3 green pearls were adhered to the front.

Sweet Stampin' Design Team - Anything But A Card

Hello and good morning everyone ---

Well it's Saturday and Sweet Stampin' time - so I'm here to share my Design Team Challenge project with you. Our fab theme this week is 'Anything But A Card',  so for my project I decided to create a bookmark covered in cat...what could be better. The cats were randomly stamped onto watercolour card and coloured in with watercolour pens, then finished off with blending pencils. To add a little fun I added a dangling cat at the bottom.

Here's What I Did

I cut down a piece of watercolour card to 5.5cm x 21cm, and randomly stamped the cats and accessories from the set all over it using brown ink. Next I coloured everything in with Zig Clean Color watercolour pens including the extra climbing cat for the bottom. When everything was dry I added extra details using blending pencils and Zest It blending solution. The complete topper was matted onto some brown card sandwiching the Bakers Twine between the layers.

To complete the bookmark I added the climbing cat to the end of the Bakers Twine so he would dangle, and then added a  touch of glitter here and there.

Crafter's Companion 'Inspirers' Design Team - September Project Take 2

Hi everyone peeps

Well I'm here today to share the 2nd of my September Crafter's Companion Design Team project with you. Today's project is in total contrast to the first one I made for this month...as you see below.

I love making little scenes using dies and stamps as they're such a lot of fun, and you can really play and use your imagination. My brief was to create something using the beautiful Victorian bandstand with a 'summer fun in the park' theme. I hope you like my take on it :)

 

Here's What I Did
I used a 6" x 6" scalloped card blank. I created the frame from white card using 2 different sized square dies - I cut out the 1st square (largest) and then lined the 2nd die (smallest) in the centre of it and cut it out. Then using the smallest die again, I cut 4 more squares from different shades of green card (hills) and one from blue (sky).

I mounted the frame onto foam tape and attached it to the card front, then inserted the blue square (sky) inside and added a few die cut clouds and a sun. The lightest green square was cut down using one of the scenic borders to create a hillside - distressing ink was used on the edges and insert inside the frame and glued down. The next 2 green layers were cut by hand to create a layered hillside using the darkest card at the front. To add a little interest to the middle layer I tucked 3 trees just under the edge of the card (these are actually die cut leaves, but after adding a little distressing ink I thought they looked like trees). On both the middle and bottom layer I glued lots of punched out stars to look like small flowers, and added a touch of glitter pen over the top.

The bandstand was die cut from white card and white funky foam which was glued together, this helps to create a little height and make it stand proud of the scene 

To finish off I die cut a few pennant pieces to create a banner and attached it to the card front using Bakers Twine.

Crafty Tip: Give extra lift and dimension to an intricate paper/card die cut by cutting it again from thin funky foam, preferably in a similar colour. Then carefully glue it to the back of the paper/card die cut taking care not to stretch the foam, and add it to your project.

Sweet Stampin' Design Team Card - Wedding/Anniversary/Love

Hello and good morning everyone ---

Well it's Saturday and Sweet Stampin' time - so I'm here to share my Design Team Challenge card with you. Our lovey dovey theme this week is 'Wedding/Anniversary/Love' and after checking my hundreds of stamps and digi stamps collection I found this gorgeous one from All Dressed Up (ADU). She's called 'The Gorgeous Bride' and was actually part of a set given as a magazine wedding freebie a year or so back, I just think she's beautiful. You can buy her individually and other bridal images from ADU themselves (click the link in the ingredient section).  I used my pencils to colour her in with and just added a touch of glitter to her flowers.

 Here's What I Did

I matted a 5" x 5" white card base with a piece of patterned paper that I'd die cut with a pieced holes die on the inside cut line.  I then printed my digi stamp directly copier paper (for a mask), and onto colouring card stock and die cut it into an oval along with a pink mat. I coloured the image in with pencils and some blending solution.

Next I cut out the image I printed onto copier paper and glued it in place over the coloured in image to mask it - I used a removable tape pen but you could use a post-it note. Using pale coloured inks I stamped random splatters around the bride, when dry I removed the mask and attached it to the mat and to the card front using foam tape.

To complete the card I added a few pearls, a touch of glitter and some die cut flowers and leaves in complimentary papers at the top right.

Crafter's Companion 'Inspirers' Design Team - September Project

Hi everyone

Well I'm here today to share one of my September Crafter's Companion Design Team project with you. As we're enjoying the last days of summer, and the nights are starting to pulling in I felt the need to create something summery, bright and zingy.

This was so easy to create, and the Create-A-Card die that I used on the front is so pretty and cut beautifully. I love flower dies and have a bit of an obsession with them (I have quite a lot of them...I'm just saying), and this one is no exception...isn't that daisy pretty. For some reason my card reminds me of lemonade and long summer day.  I hope you like it, don't forget to say hi! :)

Here's What I Did
Firstly I matted coloured card onto a 6" x 6" white card blank leaving a white boarder around the edge. Next I die cut my 'Create-A-Card topper from white card and cut it size then added it flat to the card bank, again leaving a border.

Using the Lazy Daisy die set I cut a daisy from white glitter card and 3 leaf flourishes from green card, and attached them to the card front. I used a large white gem in the centre of the daisy to set it off.

To finish off the card I glued a die cut 'Happy Birthday' sentiment inside the topper circle, then added pearls around the card and a few die cut butterflies.

Crafter's Companion Inspiration Magazine #11 - Leafy Project

Good morning everyone :)

Hi there, welcome to another Crafter's Companion project using the freebies from Crafter's Inspiration Magazine Kit - Issue #11. This is a little extra make from me; basically I couldn't stop playing with the fab contents in the kit. I love autumn and all the wonderful colours it generates, so I decided to have another little play with the stamps, dies and embossing folder in the kit...and oh yes, my new Aquatint sets as well. Hope you like it. :)

A description of how I made it (be warned it's quite lengthy) and all the products used are shown just below the photos. :)

 

Here's What I Did

I create a 5" x 5½" top fold base from white card.

Background -
I used a mixture of glycerine and Aquatints - first I added a few drops of each of the aquatint colours onto my glass mat using the included pipelettes then I poured a little of the glycerine onto the mat as well. Next I dipped a piece of Cut & Dry foam pieces (I used one for each colour) into it so that it was damp but not saturated and then dabbed one end of my foam into one of the colours, and in small circlular movements I added colour to a section of the card. I repeated the process using different colours to different areas of the card, to help the blending process I used the other end of the pieces of foam. I continued to blend and add the tints until I was happy with the final result. When the card was still damp I sponged a little of the gold over the top in different places.

When all the paints were dry I stamped leaves all over the card using a brown ink, then randomly added stencil detail using black ink. When I was happy with everything I cut it down and added to the card front.

Flower -
I die cut lots of different leaves from copier paper (to save time you can fold your paper several times to create layers, and then die cut it). Next I stamped the leaf detail on to each of the cut out using a permanent ink, and then painted all the leaves using the same aquatint colours as the background including the gold. When all the leaves were almost dry I curled the edges and crinkled them up. To assemble the flower, I die cut a circle and glued the ends of the leaves to it in layers, offsetting them on each layer. I used the smaller leaves towards the centre. When it was complete, I added a large gem in the middle.

To finish off -
I embossed a strip of white card with the free vine embossing folder and attached it to the card front. To complete the card I added the flower, a couple of leaf flourishes and a few small pearls.

Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Back to School

Hello and good morning everyone ---

Well it's Saturday and Sweet Stampin' time - so I'm here to share my Design Team Challenge card with you. Our theme this week is 'Back to School' and just had to use one of my new purchases from LOTV (Lilli Of The Valley). I love how they've made a lot of their stamps digital, now making them so easy to colour as I always found them too small before. So for my card I used 'Back To School Girl' and made her quite large and just kept the layout quite simple.

Here's What I Did

I matted a 5" x 5" white card base with black card and a piece of printed paper which I cut to size. Next I printed the little school girl onto colouring card stock and used Spectrum Noir pens to colour her in. The completed image was die cut and matted onto a black die cut shape - this was then attached to the card base using foam tape.

To complete the card I added an A, B, C cut from red card onto the front.

Crafter's Companion August Tutorial - Verity Rose Plaque

Heeeellllloooo everyone

I'm here today to share my 1st tutorial for Crafter's Companion, I used the Verity Rose stamps and CD to create a pretty and very girly wall or door hanger using a MDF heart.

Crafter's Companion August Project - Gingerbread HouseSketchbook

Good morning

Are you enjoying the Olympics? I've watched and enjoyed way more than I thought I would...mmm, I sure I said the same thing 4 years ago :) Anyhow it's back to crafting, and today I'm here to share one of my August projects for Crafter's Companion with you. This one is a little unusual - I was asked to make a shaped children's sketchbook.  The book has a shaped roof and cut out windows and contains plain paper allowing a child to draw inside and use their imagination.

My 1st challenge was trying to think about book design would trigger a child's imagination; so after spotting the Gingerbread Edge'able die I immediately thought of a Christmas  house....and what could be better than a gingerbread house. I hope you like it :)

Here's What I Did

First I marked the top centre top of the sketchbook with a pencil, then measured so far down each side (I did 2") and drew a line from each side to the top to create my roofline. This was then cut off.

Next I cut down 2 pieces of Kraft card to cover the front and the back. On the front piece I added approx an extra 2" to the width and scored to lines down it quite close together - this was so it could be wrapped around the spine of the book. Both sections were cut to the same roofline angle as the book, this was then embossed and distressed with ink. Next I marked out where the windows should be on each piece (front, back and sketchbook) and using a rectangle die to cut them out. To make life easier for myself I dismantled the book to allow my die to cut through several sheets of paper, and then stapled them all back together.

I covered the front of my book with the Kraft card and then added the back piece making sure the windows and roofline were lined up. The die cut window fronts were added next and made sure they were also lined up perfectly (I added a set of frames on the inside cover of the book to make everything look nice and neat as well). To finish off I added LOTS of die cut elements and glitter, and basically used my imagination to decorate it....there are no rules.
