Mother's Day Flower Box

Good afternoon everybody

I know I recently posted a DT box card for Mother's Day/Special Lady but that card wasn't actually for my mum as she's already seen it so there wouldn't have been a surprise.  However, because she absolutely love the concept of the box card I decided to make her one.

So I thought as I don't have a Design Team card to show you today I would share it with you.  To say she loves this card is an understatement ----- she REALLY LOVES this card.  She won't take it down from the mantelpiece where she keeps it, and intends to leave it up permanently. See I told you she loves it! :-)

Here's What I Did
I made the box body myself and decorated the sides and flaps with patterned papers edged with distressing ink. Each strut inside the box was embellished with die cut flowers, butterflies, a sentiment. Mostly of the content was created using a Craftwork Cards kit. Some of the embellishment were added to the struts themselves and some were taped to card branches.

I've created my own box card tutorials in 3 different versions --- please feel free to print or save them. You can find them on the TIPS, TUTORIAL, HINTS Page (see the link at the top of the page).  These tuts took me forever to write and create, so please do not pass them off as your own - and I would appreciate a link back to my blog if you use them to make your card.  Plus I'd love to see what you create using them, so why not get in touch I'd love to hear from you.

Here's everything I used:
Paper/Cardstock (CS): White CS, Various Coloured CS, Craftwork Card - Paper Floristry 'Sherbet' Pad, Pink Glitter CS
Dies: XCut 'Bloom', Cheery Lyn Designs 'Exotic Butterfly Small', Sizzix 'Banner #2'
Other: Glitter, Craftwork Cards 'Candi', Foam Pads, Distressing Ink 'Worn lipstick', Serif CA2 (Sentiment), Pearls

I'll have a few DT cards to show you in the next few days, so watch this space.

Hope you like my make today.  Happy crafting and thanks for dropping by.

Hugs

Yey I Won A Prize!

I'm so chuffed. I entered my Sweet Stampin' - Doodles card onto Sassy Cheryl's 'Show Me Thursday' blog and it's been featured, and I've won a prize. Yey!!!

Here's the link to the page http://sassycheryls.blogspot.co.uk/

Apart from her gorgeous hand drawn digi stamps Sassy Cheryl has a challenge blog and a 'Show Me Thursday' blog (SMT). On her SMT blog you can simply upload anything you've been working on that week ---- it doesn't even have to include a Sassy Cheryl image either (how cool is that!), plus you can win a prize if she selects you.

So why not check it out and entered your project/card.

Hugs Janine

Sweet Stampin' - Easter

It's Sweet Stampin' time again. How's life been treating you? Are you enjoying the spring or you in the mist of the mist!!

I'm once again a happy bunny- yey, my holiday is booked along with my excursions.  My hubbie and I are going on another cruise in the middle of the year, and everyone assumes that we're planned a lovely warm weather one.....but nah!! Why be boring lol.  Nope, we're going to Alaska - we've planned to watch a Lumberjack show, a visit the glaciers, go whale watching, and visit a huskie puppy pound and go sledding with their mums and dads. So excited is an understatement.

Anyhoo, back to my Sweet Stampin' - our theme this week is Easter.

Here's What I did
I used a 6 x 6 card base, and matted and layered it with some pretty lemon paper and doodled around the edge.  Then using my Die-namic die I cut out 2 squares (one in blue and one in green) and cut them in half, I re-joined 2 of the halves onto the page to make my sky and grass.  I stamped my 'Happy Easter' sentiment banner and coloured it with Copics and added glitter. From my brand new dies which are so sweet, I die cut a couple of pieces of picket fence and some clouds and attached them to the scene. My little Forever Friends bear was stamped 3 times, coloured with Copics, cut out and layered up. He was stuck onto my card along with the coloured and cut out little chicks.

To finish off I die cut some flowers and plants (in reality these were made stamen and leaf dies) which I added them to the front along with some punched out butterflies. I wanted a clean and fresh look and hopefully I've achieved it..

Here's what I Used:
Stamp: Docrafts 'Spring Time', Crafty Impressions 'Spring Border'
Cardstock (CS)/Paper: White Neenah Colouring CS, Various Coloured CS
Copics:  Bear - E01, E50, E51, E53, R20, R30, C-0, C-1 / Chicks - Y000, Y00, Y17
Dies: MFT Die-namics 'Blueprint 3', Joy! 'Cloud', Tonic 'Circle Layering Die', Tattered Lace 'Embellishment Kit', Marianne Designs 'Picket Fence LR0205', Marianne Designs 'Poinsetta'
Other: Fineliner Pen, Glitter, Butterfly Mini Punch

We hold a weekly challenge with a fantastic prize plus a monthly prize draw for everyone who enters a card/project throughout the month.

So why not drop by Sweet Stampin' Challenge Blog and check out what my fab Design Team girlies have made to inspire you. So come on why not join in with the fun and enter your card/project into our Easter challenge we'd love to see you. REMEMBER you must include a stamped element on your card!

Sugar Nellie Design Team Card - April

Big News: I'm now part of the Sugar Nellie Design Team as well as being as being a Sweetie for the Sugar Bowl Challenges.  I'm sharing my new role with another sweetie Pami - so we'll be creating a card/project on alternative weeks.  So watch this space!

To create this card I cut down an cream 8" x 8" card base to 7" x 7". The little fairy was printed directly onto the glittered background card, then printed a further 4 times onto white Neenah CS, then coloured, cut out and layered up.

Here's What I Did
Using Serif's Craft Artist2 software I created 2 squares placing one inside the other - the outer one measuring 6" x 6" square and the other measuring 5.5" x 5.5". This was done to make sure I took into account the glittered border on the paper. I then inserted my digi stamp into the centre square and resized it accordingly and added my curved text above her. To ensure I had everything placed correctly and in the right size I printed onto copier paper first, this also let me know which direct it would come out of the printer. The print out was then checked against my glittered card stock to ensure my image would fit correctly. When I was happy, I taped my glittered card stock onto another piece of plain copier paper in exactly the same place and orientation as shown on my tester sheet using Scotch Repositionable (removable) tape. I then placed it in the printer and printed it out and voila - my image and text was printed exactly in the centre of my glittered CS.

I then printed the image onto Neenah cardstock a further 4 times and coloured her in with my Copics.  The whole fairy was cut out first, and cut out again but minus some elements, then just her wings which were cut out and glittered. I coloured the mushrooms with Copics directly onto the cardstock to give a rustic feel. Then I added the green CS and glittered CS to my card base; the first fairy layer was glued directly onto the mushroom, and the other layers were raised up using foam pads. To finish off my scene I added a little gem to her hair, gave certain areas a little highlight with a white gel pen and placed some punched out butterflies around the image.

Here's what I used:
Digital Stamp: Dreams & Wishes from Funkykits.  Digital stamps also available from Etsy
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Santoro 'Mirabelle' 6 x 6 Paper Pad, Cream Card Base, Green CS
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, R30 / Hair - YR0000, YR000, YR00, E13, E99 / Dress, Flowers & Shoes - R000, R00, R20, R22 / Mushrooms- W-0,W-1,W-2, W-3,W-5, W-7 / Grass & Leaves - YG06, YG09, YG63,YG67
Other: Serif CraftArtist 2, White Gel Pen, Glitter, Mini Butterfly Punch

Let Us know
I'm keen to know if there's anything you'd like to learn or know how to do eg how to emboss, use shrink plastic, make a tag etc. Or is there anything you'd like to see included on the Sugar Nellie blog. If so let me know - either leave me a comment or email me.

I hope you like my first creation as an official Sugar Nellie DT member. Why not join us over at the Sugar Bowl challenge (114) for this month - but remember to use a Sugar Nellie stamp.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Sugar Bowl Challenge 114 - Easter/Spring Time

Hi there, it seems we're fast approaching Spring time....thankfully. Here at the The Sugar Bowl the theme this month is quite apt - it's Easter/Spring Time.  So get your Sugar Nellie stamps out and have a go.

Why not join in with us and make a card/project for the special someone in your life, but don't forget your project MUST include a Sugar Nellie stamp or digi stamp - both are available from Funkykits. If you're not sure if your stamp IS a Sugar Nellie stamp either sent me a message with it's name/picture or visit the Sugar Bowl website and send an email to Sugar Mama using the link there.

BIG NEWS: Funkykits now has a new Etsy shop where you can buy Sugar Nellie digi stamps - why not check them out.

Here's my little 'spring' card for you:

Here's What I Did
I used a 6 x 6 white card base and matted some patterned paper onto it - it's a pretty lilac colour but it looks a little washed out in my photo :(  I stamped my little gardening girl onto Neenah CS and again onto copier paper.  From the copier paper I cut out the girl with the flowers closest to her, and cut out the butterfly and a small hill shape - all to create a mask.  Using non-permanent tape I covered the girl, flowers and butterfly up and covered the area where I wanted my grassy area. Using distressing ink and my handmade cloud template I created some cloud shapes.  The rest of the image was always coloured with copics and Prisma Pencils. the grass was created using just green pen dots.

The arch window aperture was die cut and embossed and I coloured the daisy centres with a copic pen. To finish off I added some punched out butterflies and sprinkling of glitter.

Here's everything I used:
Stamp:  'Garden Daisy' Sugar Nellie stamp available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): White Neenah, First Edition 'Spring drop', White and Lilac CS
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, R30 / Hair - YR0000, YR000, YR00, E13, E99 / Dress, Shoes - V01, V02, V04, V05, V06  / Flowers and tights - RV000, RV00, RV02  / Watering Can, Butterfly & Flower Centres - Y000, Y15, Y38 / Grass and Leaves - YG00, YG03, YG09, YG17
Dies: MFT Die-namics 'Blueprints 3 & 8'
Other: Butterfly Punch, Inkydoodles Mask 'Daisy Daisy', 'Tumbled Glass' Distressing Ink, Glitter

So don't forget to drop by at The Sugar Bowl and have a look at what the rest of my fabulous DT sweeties have created to inspire you; and why not join in with this month's challenge while you're there. It's open to everyone, and the theme is Easter/Spring Time so come on give it a go.

If you want to be in with a chance of being in our Top 3 or even a Guest Designer then please remember to use a Sugar Nellie stamp.

Have fun, and I look forward to seeing your creations on my return.

Email Message Box Problem

I apologise to anyone who's sent me a message via my email message box recently.  It was only yesterday that I realised it wasn't working, and I'm not sure when it stopped or why, and as usual Blogger doesn't have any answers :(  So I've removed it and added my email address instead, I'm just hoping I don't get hit by spammers....but we'll see!

Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Inspired By A....Book, Film or Song

It's Sweet Stampin' time for me again, and our theme this week is INSPIRED BY...A FILM, BOOK OR A SONG. I'd love you to join us and take part, in the fun - but just remember your project MUST include a stamped element. So to get you in the mood here's my card for you - I hope you like it.  I opted to make a box card and I chose 'Alice In Wonderland' and the Mad Hatter. I've also included a tutorial on how to made a box card to fit in an A5 envelop if you would like to use it.

Here's What I did
After creating my box and adding my papers to it. I die cut flowers attaching some to acetate strips.   I then printed off my digi stamps - the Mad Hatter, cups, teapots and cakes. I coloured them all in with Copics and also attached these to acetate strips. The quotes were printed and die cut and coloured with pan pastels.  The red & green small cups I drew myself.  Everything was then placed inside the box.  You'll also spot the odd playing card (including the Queen of Hearts) - these are actually mini cards from a Xmas cracker.

Click the link here to the Box Card Template I've created.  It's a bit lengthy sorry, but it does have illustrations.  You can open, download and/or save it. FYI, if you want to make the box height and/flaps slightly larger or smaller just increase or decease the measurements I've given you. Any questions just email me...have fun!

Here's what I Used:
Cardstock/Paper: White card, Neenah Colouring CS, MME 'The Sweetest Thing' paper Pad,
Copics:  E0000, E000, E00, E11, E35, R20, R30, C-0, C-1, C-2, C-3, C-5, Y00, Y02, Y08, Y17, R20, R27, R29, R32, YG03, YG11, YG17, B0000

Totally Gorjuss - My Last DT Card

Well this is my last post for Totally Gorjuss as I've decided to step down from the Design Team. My last post for them is very apt - the theme this week is ANYTHING GOES - HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

It's apt because the card I made was for a lovely lady who turned 90 last week. Unfortunately a few days later she passed away and will be sadly missed. I decided to use this card as a lovely way to remember her, she was a sweet and lovely lady who endured such pain for many years. RIP Ann.

Here's What I Did -
Everything was created digitally using Serif's CraftArtist 2 and a digi kit. I created the sentiment and layout to fit onto my 8 x 8 base. Everything was printed off 3 times and then cut out and layered up. To finish it off I added glitter and created AN insert.

Here's What I Used -
Digi Kit: Daisytrail 'Hearts Designs - Hearts & Roses'
Cardstock: Cream, Lilac
Other: Serif CraftArtist 2, Glitter

So why not come along and visit our blog at Totally Gorjuss and check out what my lovely team buddies have made to inspire you. While you're there don't forget to enter your card/project into our weekly challenge - remember it's HAPPY BIRTHDAY. There's a prize up for grabs and this week's sponsors is The Ribbon Girl.

I can't wait to visit you and see what you make for one last time.
