Sugar Bowl Challenge 112 - Colour Theme

Well here's a another first for 2014, my first DT challenge card for The Sugar Bowl. The theme this month is a Colour Theme (See the palette below). Aren't the pretty colours.

Why not join in with us, but don't forget your project MUST include a Sugar Nellie stamp or digi stamp - both are available from Funkykits.  If you're not sure if your stamp IS a Sugar Nellie stamp either sent me a message with it's name/picture or visit the Sugar Bowl website and send an email to Sugar mama using the link there.

BIG NEWS FROM THE SUGAR MINES
Exciting news - things are changing in the Sugar Bowl from February onwards. Each month as well as the usual prize on offer for the selected winner, we will also highlight 3 of our favourite card/projects from the entries. The biggest news is that we will also choose one entry to be our Guest Designer for the following month. So come on what are you wanting for.....get crafting!!!

Your colour Palette

This was a relatively quick card.  The topper was made by stamping 3 times, firstly onto my base cream CS, then twice onto white CS.  I coloured the image on my cream base card, and then coloured the parts on the white CS that I wanted to layer up. I'd added colour around the edge of the frame by firstly adding pencil around the very edge, and then using some Pan Pastel to pull the colour in towards the centre. The parts of the image that I'd coloured and cut out were added to the base card.  I added glitter to finish it off.  I drew a squiggly line and leaves around the edge of the background card and added a little glitter to compliment the topper. To finish off I added some leaves and flowers.

Here's everything I used:
Stamp: Leanne Ellis 'Wild Rose' - Sugar Nellie stamp available from Funkykits
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Hobbycraft 'Monochrome' Paper Pad, Papermill Shimmer Cream CS, Light & Deep Pink and Dark Grey Bazzill CS, Silver Mirra CS
Pencils: Derwent (D) & Prisma (P), Lyra Polycolour (L) - Face - Colour of CS, (P) Light Peach, Peach, Blush / Rose & Frame Edge - (P) Blush Pink, Poppy Red, Crimson / Hair - (P) Sand, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Ochre, Sienna Brown, (D) Ochre / Dress, Leaves & Hat - (D) Dove Grey, Cloud Blue, Steel Grey, Persian Grey, (L) Black
Dies: Britannia Multi Rose - Small, Die-namic 'Blueprints 3', Tattered Lace 'Embellishments'
Other: Pan Pastels - Permanent Red Tint, Black Fineliner Pen, Glitter

So don't forget to drop by at The Sugar Bowl and have a look at what the rest of my fabulous DT sweeties have created to inspire you; and why not join in with this month's challenge while you're there. It's open to everyone, and the theme is Colour Theme (shown above) so  come on give it a go. You can create anything you like but it MUST include a SUGAR NELLIE STAMP (either rubber or digi) otherwise it will be removed (sorry!).

Have fun, and I look forward to seeing your creations on my return.

Hugs

Aurora Wings Competition

Evening everyone

I just thought I 'd share with you a new card I've just finished.  I found this wonderful artist through Digi Galore one of the group I follow on Facebook.  The artist is Mitzi Sato-Wiuff aka Aurora Wings.  her drawing are stunningly beautiful, she is so talented.  You can buy her line drawings on Etsy - here's the link. This will take you to her blog and has links to her shop and facebook page.

I recently bought 2 for her drawings and this is one I'm entry into her Competition which is closing in the morning 4.49am UK time.  She's called Gardenia - isn't she gorgeous...and yes she is supposed to be upside down :)

It's an 8 x 8 card which I tried to keep CAS, so mainly I matted and layered a few sheets of card and paper. I wanted to particularly concentrate on colouring Mitzi's image, the one parts that are raised up are 2 of the gardenia's to add a little bit of depth. To finish I glittered all the pearls and added some of my handmade flowers.  I didn't want to overpower the page and so I tried to keep the colour scheme simple.  Sorry about the quality of the close up photo, I've left it as is because if I brighten it (as in the top picture) you can't see the glitter on the pearls - and there's a lot of glitter because there's lot of pearls :)

Edit: I was asked more about the flowers on the card, so here's more information.  The biggest flower is actually 2 diecuts placed on top of each other, and they are from a paper pad kit from Craftwork Cards which includes beautiful thick papers, lots of different die cut flowers and Candi. The smaller ones are made by myself using the small and large metal Britannia Multi Rose dies, the branches are also die cut using Tattered Lace Embelishment set. The flowers were cut out and shaped....simple.

Here's What I Used
Digital Stamp:  Gardenia - Aurora Wings
Paper/Cardstock: Craftwork Cards 'Paper Floristry Sherbet'

Copics/Promarkers: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, R22 / Hair - YR0000, YR000, YR00, E13, E25, E99, Terracotta (PM) / Gardenia - YR0000, YR02, Blush (PM) / R81, R85, 00 / Leaves & Pearls - BG10, BG13, BG15, BG49
Dies: Tonic Layering Circle and Square Dies, Small and Large 'Multi Rose' Dies, Tattered Lace 'Embellishment' Dies.
Other: TH Distressing Ink - Tumbled glass, Pan Pastels (Turquoise, Orange, Phthalo Green), White Pen, Brown Fineliner, Glitter, Stencil, Craftwork Cards Die Flowers

I hope you like it, and wish me luck.

I have 2 card for you today Totally Gorjuss & Sweet Stampin' (see below)

Sweet Stampin Challenge - In Stitches

Well I don't know about you but I can't believe how quickly this month has gone. I'm wondering if it's because I'm getting older or it's because I'm constantly busy. I'm not sure of the answer, all I know is that I blinked and missed January :)  Anyway back to crafty business, here's my card tag for this week's Sweet Stampin' Challenge - the theme this week is In Stitches. Your card, tag or whatever project you decide to make MUST include a stamped element.

Here's What I did
After cutting out my tag it was coloured with my pan pastels. I then stamped the sewing images with stazon all over the tag - and yes some of the tape measure is upside......I did it on purpose ;)  The word 'Beautiful' was stamped, heat embossed and covered with gold gilding flakes. Then I die cut a sewing machine, mannequin stand and body section which I tinted blue, stamped and glittered. To finish it off I hand sewed a little lace skirt and wrapped it around the body, this was then added to the tag along with the sewing machine. To embellish it further I added die cut letters, some buttons, tag and a bow.

Here's what I Used:
Stamps: Sew Pretty (Craft Mag Freebie), My Mind's Eye Tangerine 'Hello Stamps', Little Darlings 'Large Words'
Cardstock (CS): Papermill Shimmer CS, Black CS, White CS
Dies: Xcut Alphabet 'Centurion', Sizzix 'Banner 2'
Die Cut: Polkadoodles Cutting files 'Picknix' Collection 1 - Mannequin, Sewing Machine
Pan Pastels: Phthalo Blue Tint, Turquoise, Diarylide Yellow, Permanent Red Tint, Orange, Violet Tint
Other: Tag (created by me), Versamark Ink, Stamp N' Bond, Gold Gilding Flakes, Buttons, Ribbon, Gold thread, Distressing Ink pad 'Tumbled Glass', Heat Gun, Stazon, Lace, Glitter

We hold a weekly challenge with a fantastic prize plus a monthly prize draw for everyone who enters a card/project throughout the month.

Totally Gorjuss Challenge - 220 - Furtastic

Hi there, well here I am again with this week's DT card for Totally Gorjuss The theme this week is ANYTHING GOES -  FURTASTIC.  So think furry things, hairy things, pets and so on.

Really easy CAS card this week but fun to make.  I die cut a brown scallop square, a plain square in gingham paper (did I hear you say yee haw!!) and another using the 'friend' word die. Can I say I love, love, love these Die-namic Blueprint dies, they're so useful.  Anyway back to business......I stamped my little doggie onto water colour card and coloured him using my distressing ink pens. This is a really old wooden block stamp that I've had for years - but I love him he's so cute. To add a little dimension I stamped his nose and mouth twice, coloured, then cut out them out and layered them up.  Pencils were used to give a little more depth to his face and body. Everything was added to the card base and to finish off I added a little glossy accent to his nose and dog tag.

Here's what I used.
Stamps: Whipper Snapper 'Good New Puppy', Personal Impressions 'Paw Prints'
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Kraft CS, Papermania Brown CS, Gingham Paper (Magazine freebie)
Distressing Ink Pens: Wild honey, Spiced Marmalade, Pumice Stone, Black Soot, Antique Linen, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, Barn Door, Fired Brick
Other: Prisma Pencils, Lyra Polycolour Pencils, Derwent Coloursoft Pencils, Glossy Accents, Pan Pastel - Turquoise Tint.

So why not come along and visit our blog at Totally Gorjuss and check out what my team buddies have made to inspire you. While you're there don't forget to enter your card/project into our weekly challenge - remember it's ANYTHING GOES - Furtastic. There's a prize up for grabs and this week's sponsors is LOTV (Lili Of the Valley).
I can't wait to visit you and see what you make.

Have a furtastic day.

Check them out below, and thank you for dropping by.  Hugs x Janine x

Yey, My Sugar Nellie Card

Wowsa, look who's on the Sugar Nellie blog....lol me!!

I know I usually create a monthly Design Team card for The Sugar Bowl challenge blog. However, the Sugar Bowl sweeties were asked if we'd like to create a card especially for the Sugar Nellie blog this month as well.....and of course I said YES. So gulp, here it is.  I hope you like it!

OMG I hope it's up to the high standard that's expected over at Sugar Nellie's; the cards shown there are always stunning.

I made this sweet little shaped card using a Sugar Nellie digital stamp and coloured her in with my Copics, to add a little bit of sparkle I added a touch of glitter to her wings.  I covered the base card in patterned paper and added a little distressing ink around the edges. I then die cut a small border strip, and added the matted image onto circles. To soften the edge of the main image I used some pan pastel. I love making my own handmade flowers as they always give such a personal touch, so I die cut a few different types plus a few leaves.  To finish her off I added a little gem to her hair, some pearls to the flowers and a cute yellow flower button.

Here's what I used:
Digital Stamp:  'A Little Bit Of Gossip' from the Return To Fairy Glen Release available from Funkykits.
Paper/Cardstock: Dovecraft 'Garden Party', Orange, Green & Pink CS, Craftwork Cards - Shaped Card Base
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, R30 / Hair - YR0000, YR000, YR00, E13, E18, E25 / Dress, Flower Centres & Shoes - Y000, Y00, Y15, Y38 / Cardigan & Flowers - R81, R85, 00 / Ladybird - R81, R35 / Leaves - G21, G82, G14, 00

Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Girly No Pink

Well here's my first card of 2014 for Sweet Stampin' Challenge Blog - the challenge this week is 'Girly No Pink' and MUST include a stamped element.  I have included the frame I made to go with it. Both were made for my daughter's 25th birthday as she's a bit of a hippy. She turned 'hippy' after going to see 'Hair' at the theatre a few years ago. I loved making the frame, it was so satisfying and it looks so cute. I think I'll definitely be making more.

I struggle with layouts, so I hope I haven't made this too fussy as the papers are so pretty. Isn't she gorgeous, I coloured her with my copics and she was such a dream to colour in. Her background was stamped with flowers and different coloured pan pastels where used to give a pretty psychedelic look. I mounted this onto a punched border mat and, added my handmade flowers, gems and ribbon. The peace sign was cut using my Cricut.

We hold a weekly challenge with a fantastic prize plus a monthly prize draw for

everyone who enters a card/project throughout the month.

Here's what I used:

Totally Gorjuss Challenge 218 - Manly

Hi there, well here I am again with this week'd DT card for Totally Gorjuss The theme this week is a bit more challenging it's ANYTHING GOES -  MANLY.  I know, I know....we all struggle with any kind of card for the men or man in our lives, and I'm no exception.  When I saw the theme I gave a huge sign of relieve as I'd only recently made this card for my hubbie's 50th birthday.  He loved it!  I was originally inspired by a card I saw by Jen Nelson here.  The actual concept is a really easy one, but I think it's the additional of colour that gives it a bit of umph.

The card is an 8 x 8 and with the red and blue mats it's probably reduced to a 7 x 7" card. The base layout was created in CraftArtist2 so I could lay out the square evenly. I created squiggly line boxes to give an informal look and inserted the Bugaboo digi images inside each one, and then typed in the tag line and printed it off.
The same digi images were then printed out 2/3 times and then coloured with Copics. The coloured pieces were then cut out and layered up as I wanted to give it a 3D feel. The whole thing worked out much better than I anticipated, and I have to admit cutting out some of the element was really fiddly and took me ages. I decided matted and layer up the centre square as that was the main sentiment. Overall the card was a bit pricey....but hey it's personal to my DH and he's worth it.
Here's what I used.
Digi Stamps: Bugaboo Stamps
Paper/Card: White Neenah, Blue and Red CS
Copics: E000, E00, E11, E35, B0000, B00, B02, Y15, R17, R17, R30, R45, R59
Other: CraftArtist2, Pinflair Glue Gel

So why not come along and visit our blog at Totally Gorjuss and check out what my team buddies have made to inspire you. While you're there don't forget to enter your card/project into our weekly challenge - remember it's ANYTHING GOES - MANLY. There's a prize up for grabs and this week's sponsors is Crafters Companion.

As always I'm looking forward to seeing what you make.

Happy New Year to you all - wishing you all the

Well here's new DT card for the first challenge of the year for Totally Gorjuss. The theme for this week is ANYTHING GOES - RIBBON

So to get you in the mood here's a gorgeous girl I've created for you, isn't she beautiful. Stamp: Isabella by 'Krista Smith - Saturated Canary' from Funkykits

I'm In The News!

Lol, look at me I'm famous.

Yey, I was in my local paper (Evening Gazette) today - and no it wasn't page 3.  I was approached by them last summer after putting an advert in the paper about starting up a craft club.  I was asked if I'd send a photo of myself with some of my creations, plus a small article about the type of crafting I enjoy and how I got into it in the first place.  Well I send it off last August and totally forgot all about until today, when one of my crafty friend's Ali emailed to say she spotted me.  I was both shocked and delighted as the article and photo was quite large, I was only expecting a little tiddly picture and a few words. So here is is, my 5 minutes of fame.
