Today I'm sharing my April Craftulove Design Team card and tutorial with you. Sorry it's a little late but I've been on a week's cruise to Scandinavia with my daughter; we had a fabulous time. We ate, drank, walked, talked, laughed....and danced. I now have what I like to call 'disco knees', as they're aching and sore. Lol
Anyhow back to my card, I used the pretty word edger die by Creative Expressions and the Metallic card by Tim Holtz. For my card I used 3 of the different coloured sheets in the pad. The metallic card in the pad is backed with kraft card and the colours are lovely and muted. Anyhow I hope you like my card. All the links to the specific Craftuslove products can be found below, and the link to the general store is here.
I used a 7" x 7" card blank, 3 sheets of the metallic card (peacock blue, green and gold), the 'For You' and 'Best Wishes' die and 3 yellow gems.
1. Trim the peacock blue and green metallic card to 5¾” x 5¾”.
2. Attach the peacock blue card to the front of the 7" x 7" card
blank.
3. Using the green metallic card measure both sides to 3” from the bottom and lightly mark with a pencil. Lay the sentiment edger die
across the card and die cut.
4. Carefully remove top section of the die cut and adhere
it to the card front over the top of the peacock blue card.
5. Die cut the sentiment again from gold metallic card.
Leave the pieces in the die until they are needed to avoid the small
pieces getting lost.
6. Next, carefully add glue to the wells in the green metallic card die
cut lettering one by one, and insert the same piece of lettering that was cut from the gold card (that were left in in the die). Do each
piece in turn until the bottom section is complete (as shown below).
7. Cut a strip of the same gold card and add double sided
sticky paper to the back, then die cut the ‘Best Wishes’ sentiment. Peel the
protective sheet on the back and attach it to the bottom of the card front.
8. To complete the card add 3 gems to the top left of the
card.
TIPS
#1 – When die cutting the ‘For You’ sentiment and
the ‘Best Wishes’ turn the card and die 45° so that it cuts vertically. It makes the card easier
to cut as there’s less cutting points.
#2 - To avoid getting dents and
marks in your metallic card when die cutting - lay a piece of copier paper over the top of the card
and die to protect it before running it through your machine.
